December 30th, 1986

A little girl with (h/c) hair sat in an orphanage in New York City. About six months ago, her parents had been researching something for science and disappeared. She was brought to this orphanage, since her parents had stated in their will if they were to die; she would live here. The ship they had set out on was believed to have been attacked by pirates. She was only seven.  ___ had been sitting in the lobby with her caretaker waiting for a man to adopt her.

The man's name was Quillish Wammy.

"___, he just called me. He should be here soon. You have all of your belongings, correct?" You nodded to answer the caretaker.

A man with white hair and glasses entered the orphanage. "I'm Quillish Wammy. Are you ___?"

Being shy, you looked away from him. "Yes, I am."

"Are you sure she's been selected to Wammy's house? I don't want you to return her; there are too many children here." Your caretaker scowled.

"Yes, she's been selected. Those tests are never wrong, only gifted children can get into Wammy's house. ___, it's time to go. Thank you very much, Miss Koen." He smiled at her, but she just turned away and walked into her office. "She seems nice. Let's go, ___." Mr. Wammy took you out to his car, the windows were tinted and it was black. Your parents had said not to get into cars like this. Though, considering that he was adopting you, you supposed the man was safe.

"___, soon we will be flying to Winchester, England. But first, we need to go to D.C. There's another boy that we need to pick up. He is also going to Wammy's house." He smiled happily at you; this was so that you knew you were safe.

"Okay. I'm just going to another orphanage, aren't I? I'll never have parents again..."  You started crying.

Wammy hugged you. "It's okay. Wammy's house is one big, happy family. You'll meet lots of amazing people." The two of you got into the car.

Several hours later, you arrived at the orphanage in D.C. Mr. Wammy said that you two were picking up a boy the same age as you. He was only a couple of days younger. "I'll be right back. Please stay in the car."

You watched him leave and go inside. Will he be nice? Why is he in the orphanage? You tried to imagine the boy, but Mr. Wammy hadn't really given you anything to go off of.

Mr. Wammy walked outside, no child was present. Where is he? You thought. Where is the boy? Then, behind him, a small boy with tangled black hair walked. His shoe laces were untied, and his white shirt and blue jeans were too big for his frail figure. The door opened, and Mr. Wammy told the boy to get inside. "___, this is L. L, this is ___."

The two of you locked eyes, his thumb in his mouth. He chewed his nails, just like you did.

"Hi."

"Hello."

Little did either of you know, but you two would be together forever.
