Day in, and day out, the same thing on permanent repeat.
This is all so...ridiculous.
This world is...
Rotten.

Something rather peculiar had happened. Criminals across the globe had begun to mysteriously die of heart attacks. Whether or not someone agreed with the killings, this was murder. A murder that could not be traced whatsoever.
Or, so as an individual thought.
12/04/2004
The ICPO (International Criminal Police Organization) had arranged a meeting to discuss the murders. "If that's the case, it looks as if we'll have no choice but to bring in L."
There were gasps around the room. A newbie detective asked his superior who, "L", was, and with that, the man was answered.
"But I've heard this "L" is extremely arrogant and has tended to only take on cases that he's personally interested in."
"That's exactly right! Besides, we don't even know how to contact him."
"L is already on the move." Watari walked across the room, his name and face never being revealed to the public. "Gentlemen, L has already begun his investigation into these incidents." More gasps were heard in the room.
"Good luck, sweetheart." You whispered into L's ear.
"Please be silent. L would now like to address the delegates."
L pressed the voice-scrambling button down, speaking into his microphone. "Greetings to all of you at the ICPO. I... Am L."
"The difficulty of this case lies on its unprecedented scope. And make no mistake. We are witnessing an atrocious act of mass murder, one that is unforgivable. This case cannot be solved without the full cooperation of the ICPO. That is all of the police organizations you represent throughout the world. You need to make the decision to fully support the investigation at this meeting. Also I require additional cooperation from Japan's National Police Agency."
"Whether this guilty party is an individual or a group, there is a strong possibility that they are Japanese. And even if they are not, we can be sure they're hiding in Japan." L continued. "Why Japan, you ask? I think I will be able to provide you with proof of that after I directly confront the culprit."
Ignoring the responses of the ICPO, he said his last declaration. "At any rate, I would like to set up the investigation headquarters in Japan."
With that, he ended his communication line to the ICPO. Looking L directly in the eye, you spoke. "I suppose you were talking about the plan you mentioned to me earlier."
He nodded. "I will perform the first trial tomorrow." Turning back to his computer, L began working through the case.

"I am Lind L. Tailor, otherwise known as L." The fiasco, with showed Kira's second live killing, took place. As soon as Lind L. Tailor died, with slight hesitation, L operated his world famous Black Colistor "L".
"Ah. I had to test this, just in case, but I-I never thought it would actually happen. Kira...it seems you can kill people without having to be there in person. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't just witnessed it. Listen to me, Kira. If you did, indeed, kill Lind L. Tailor, the man who you just saw die on television, I should tell you that he was an inmate whose execution was scheduled for today. That was not me." L's voice shook in the beginning, but he fought the realization.
"The police arrested him in absolute secrecy, so you wouldn't have heard of him on TV or through the internet. It appears not even you have access to information about these types of criminals." L took a deep breath, the next part unscripted. "But I assure you, L is real. I do exist. Now...try to kill me!"
You jumped on the century's greatest detective, tears forming in your eyes. You couldn't lose him, too.
"What's wrong?! Go ahead! Come on, right now! Kill me!"
Please, no.
"Can't you do it?"
L tensed as the suspense went on, you clutching him harder and harder. L, please don't die. Please.
L snorted slightly. "Well Kira, it seems you can't kill me after all. So there are some people you can't kill. You've given me a useful hint. A dealer to a saver. I'll tell you something that I think you'll find interesting. Although this was announced as a worldwide broadcast, the truth is, we are only broadcasting in the Kanto region of Japan. I had planned to broadcast this message around the world until we found you, but it looks like that won't be necessary. I know now where you are."
The man with messy, black hair informed the Kanto region of Japan about the information Kira had provided. L smirked. "Naturally, I am very interested to know how you're able to commit these murders without being present...but I don't mind waiting a little bit longer. You can answer all of my questions when I catch you...Let's meet again soon, Kira."
A blank screen appeared, the broadcast ending. "Kira...I will hunt you down wherever you're hiding and I will eliminate you! I am Justice!"
You clutched the man tighter as tears raced down your eyes. "That was dangerous! Out of all of the things you've done in the past, this is the closest you've come to death. You could have died, L. I can't lose you, too!"
"My life is a risk I am willing to take. If I am to die, Near and Mello can work together to capture Kira." He reached for a stack of sugar cubes in front of the computer.
"You still haven't decided which one will succeed you, have you?" If L did not do this, neither would work together.
"No, I haven't. And that is for a reason."

Over the next few months, L and Kira were getting closer and closer by the minute. Due to the last scare, you had L refrain from one-on-one confrontations with Kira. Near and Mello were given cases that L could not work on at the time, as were you. Though, the worry of losing your husband kept you thinking correctly. L assured you that he would not die anytime soon.
After working on your anxiety, you were able to get back on track with the cases. Ever since encountering Beyond Birthday two years ago, you were always worried about him getting out. This had caused you to have the need for therapy. Talking to the therapist helped so much, but the fear of him getting out once more always alarmed you. You knew that Beyond Birthday was in one of the most secured prisons in the world, but he was always a crafty trickster.
While looking through his case, you noticed that Naomi was now engaged. Wanting to congratulate the woman who had saved your life, you sent a note without a name. You planned on attending the wedding in secret, whenever the date was decided.
"___...most of the NPA does not wish to continue with the Kira investigation, as they fear for their lives." L spun a cotton-candy machine.
"Dammit, I knew this would happen. How many people are left?" L never aided for the police, but he must have needed more hand-on-hand contact than he usually did.
"Six."
While that was a low number, you weren't expecting that many people to quit. "Counting you, Watari, and I?"
"Counting us three, will result in nine." L drank some tea he had nearby.
"That's not too bad."
"I plan on revealing my face to them."
Silence. There was irritation in your blood. L had already risked his life once, and you sure as Hell weren't going to let him do it again. "No. You're not."
"I operate on my own terms." With that, he turned back to the computer.
"L, this is obscure! If one of them is Kira, then you will die!" You crossed your arms.
L sighed. "Remember, Kira needs a name and a face. The investigators will have my face, but not my name."
He was right. As you thought more and more, you realized your brain was clouded with anxiety. "L, I'll be back. I need to relax for a while."
"That sounds like a good idea." He continued working.
As you walked out the door, he yelled, "We're moving to Japan."
You sighed, walking to the hot tub downstairs. Pressing a button on a device that you made, the hot tub started to warm up. Changing into your swimsuit, you climbed into the relaxing, warm, small pool. Next to the tub was a fridge, which you grabbed your favourite beverage. Turing on the television, you avoided all stations where Kira was present. You watched a show that matched your interest.
After a while, you dozed off in the hot tub. When you awoke, you felt an arm around your shoulder. Next to you was no other than L, smiling that adorable smile of his. "Wammy informed me that you had fallen asleep, so I decided to come here."
You smiled at your husband, kissing him on the cheek. In return, he gave you a nice, satisfying kiss on the lips. After the kiss was over, he informed you of the future.
"This may be the last one for a while, so let us spend it wisely." L picked you up, bridal style, to massage you in the room that the two of you shared.

December 29th, 2003
A few days ago, you and L had celebrated your four year anniversary. While the three of you were moving to Japan, the house you owned in America would be kept for future purposes. Wammy would fly you two over on the private plane, then L planned to meet the investigators. He would not show you, or Watari, to the team until he had thoroughly investigated them all.
L had informed the two of you that the team would meet on the 31st of December. There, he would investigate them, inform the Japanese Task Force of his suspicions and theories, and continue to investigate the Kira case. The reason for the shrinking of the Task Force was due to twelve FBI agents dying while they were investigating Kira. Six remained, but the number was to shrink.

"L, be careful." You kissed your husband on the lips.
"No promises." He smirked.
You watched L go through the hotel room. L had you staying down a few floors, in a less expensive room. There, you would watch the meeting through hidden cameras and bugs. Eating an apple, you heard feet go by your room. Looking through a small hole in the door, you saw two men walking together through the hotel. They must be on the Task Force. You thought.
And thus, the meeting began.
