August, 1987
Summer air soon turned to the Autumn dust as the months went on. Not much had changed in the three months since you met Dr. Thomason. The two of you exchanged letters every two weeks, it was clear that the woman had taken a liking to you. You knew the woman didn't have time for children or a husband, so your fear of leaving L and Mr. Wammy blew away with the Autumn wind.
L's tennis instruction had continued over the summer. He was training harder and harder each day; however, he made time in the day for you to catch him up on the latest technology. You and the boy began taking language classes as well. L had told you that he planned on being fluent in every language possible, and you believed him with all of your heart.
"___, you and L are going on a trip to the Atlantic Ocean with me. Roger will be watching over the orphanage while we're gone.
You packed your necessities in a small suitcase, as it was the one you owned after your parent's deaths. Mr. Wammy had informed the two of you that the trip would take place in Canada. It was a great way for you and L to study French. There was also a technology museum that you had taken an interest to. That was one of the many stops planned for your adventure.
After arriving on the North American country, Mr. Wammy noticed a rather suspicious man following your trio. I'll have to hide the children. He thought.
"Tomoko, Matthew, do you need a restroom break?" Mr. Wammy gave you and L the signal to change clothes.
"Oh, Grandfather, I have to pee badly." L was portraying an almost-eight year old perfectly.
"Very well. I'll meet you back here."
You walked with your suitcase to the bathroom. Inside, a (insert a different colour hair than yours) wig was placed in a plastic bag. A change of clothes was also rested inside the suitcase. Your hands moved like lightning bolts, for the clothes were on in no time. You put sunglasses upon your face, covering your eye colour from the rest of the world.
Once you were out of the bathroom, you noticed that L had changed into a blonde wig with black clothes. Mr. Wammy had changed attire, too. His regular suit was now replaced with the casual tourist stereotype. To add to everyone's new looks, he even changed his professional, fatherly tone to a hip, deep one. "Alrighty, kids! Let's go have some fun!" He guided you two out of the airport, and to the busy streets of Canada.
"Listen to me. We'll be staying here for a while, approximately a year. After that year has passed, we'll move from country to country. I'm sure that you're aware, L, that someone has been threatening the orphanage, particularly you, ___."
Suddenly, your whole body was trembling. The pirates, surely they've come back to finish the job? What really happened to my parents?
Event after event, being with L and Mr. Wammy sure was a ride.

October, 1992Surfing the Internet had become an actual term. Computers had evolved even more in the last five years, and so had your trio. You and L were now 13, (well, L is almost 13) and nothing was stopping you two from forming a friendship. Mr. Wammy had specially invented a human washing machine just for the detective in training. Thanks to L's advice through the years, Mr. Wammy's wealth had grown due to his investments in certain companies. L had not been wrong yet.
"A serial murder case without any clues...this is far more difficult than any money or puzzle game." L devoured a gummy-worm castle. "I have a suspicion that these people are the ones attempting to locate us."
