"They had a love so deep, the ocean would be jealous."

Epilogue

Amsterdam during Christmas was magical. It was a sight for the locals, but it was even more of a destination for tourists at this time of the year. Martin was used to the streets and canals lit up like stars in the sky, but Mads had never seen anything like it. She was in awe of every street she saw during the night.

Mads had arrived in Amsterdam about three days ago. She had no idea that one of her Christmas presents from Martin, was coming here. When he was doing his normal visits to see her in Oxford, he gave her an envelope with a plane ticket for December 20th. She thought to herself that it wasn't real, but Martin confirmed it to her multiple times before she believed him. She was excited and couldn't wait to spend more time with him.

Martin and Mads' relationship had grown beautifully. It was more than a relationship - it's like they were one together. Neither one of them has ever been happier these past four months dating, even though had known each other for nearly eight months.

Martin was so in love with her, it was indescribable. He was infatuated with her. He cared about her, protected her from any and everything. He looked at her like every girl wanted to be looked at. He had thought about how lucky he was quite often. He found a girl who understood him. Who listened to him. He could talk to her about everything; he couldn't do that with just anyone.

Mads on the other hand, as naive as she used to be, she has found herself being with him. She didn't want to say she relied on him for everything, but he was there for her at all times. Mads had never thought she would have found someone to love as she did. She expected it to be an older man in college, but she would never want that now. All she wants is Martin. She loved him like no other.

Martin finally ended up buying an apartment just inside the city, still keeping close to Amstelveen with his mother and sister. Right after Martin and Mads got together, his mother ended up going through with divorcing Martin's father.

Although Martin never cared much for him, it was hard to see his mother go through it. Laura had taken it more so like their mother than Martin, but they all knew it was for the better. Martin and his father's relationship is estranged, something Mads wishes he would fix. But Martin being Martin, he's stubborn and refuses to do so for now.

Mads' parents ended up finding out about Martin, not in a way she expected either. One day, Martin was staying with Mads and as she was in the shower, her phone began to ring. When Martin saw the caller ID, he knew he had to tell her. It was her mother. So, he told her through the door that her phone was ringing and for some reason, Mads told him to answer it, saying she couldn't get out of the shower right then.

He warned her, but he did as she said. To make a long story even longer, Martin answered and her mother slightly freaked. Mads got angry when he didn't tell her who the caller was and that ended up being a long conversation with her mother and father. Surprisingly (and thankfully), Mads' parents were mostly fine with her having a relationship. Probably because she was finally eighteen. Although, her father was skeptical. Martin knew whenever it was time to meet them, he was going to be scared shitless.
