Chapter Three - They're Lying

- Madeline's POV -

My breathing hitched as I saw his eyes stare straight into mine. I could feel my body tense each second but I could not look away. It was as if I was frozen. Suddenly the hooker that was practically sitting on his lap followed his gaze and her eyes landed on me too. Her blond hair, pin straight, flowed down her back making her look like some kind of mermaid. But if I'm honest, that looked like the only real thing on her body. She then made a remark that did not look too nice, so I quickly turned away and looked forward.

"Oh my god," I muttered to myself. What just happened?

"What?" Confusion covered Haley's voice. I didn't say anything as I looked up to her, but now, she was looking in the direction I previously was. I refused to look back because I already knew who she was staring at. "Was he staring at you?"

"Yes - wait, um I- I don't know," I sounded like a stuttering idiot. I could still feel his presence on me which made me terribly uncomfortable. I knew Haley would not like the fact that I was practically rebelling against her.

"Mads, I told you - "

"I know, I know. I just felt someone staring at me, I look and it's him, I'm sorry," we still had to whisper because they were still talking about nonsense. As of right now, I wanted to go back to the dorm, curl up into a ball, and hide.

"When we go back, I gotta talk to you hun," her words melted with seriousness. My heartbeat started to speed up, my stomach turning into knots. I still do not understand why I am supposed to stay away from this guy.

The rest of the time in the auditorium felt like a thousand years. However, I did catch onto that newbies (like myself) have to tour the campus later in the day. I was very relieved by that because I have no idea where hardly anything is. At the same time though, I was scared because I didn't know anyone else here who was new. Once we were dismissed, my eyes wandered back over to Martin's seat. He was already gone. The two hookers and his other friends were still there, but him.

"Well, I'll see you guys later," Cade sent a smile to both of us. Haley said a few words and I nodded to him, keeping a smile as well. He was really nice and cute but, I still could not figure out if he was gay. I have never really took thought about gays. My parents, being as religious as they are, are not to fond of them. Personally, I feel like people can do whatever they want. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've been in the same room as one.

"Bye Mads," he sent me a wink. I waved as he ran out of the auditorium.

"Come on, before we get trampled," Haley grabbed my arm and drug me out of the filled place. I had no idea that there would be this many people here. And they were not kidding about people coming all over the world to this place. On the way back to the dorm, I noticed girls staring at us, but not me. Haley. Giving her dirty looks and such, I don't think she noticed. Why are they doing that to her? We also briefly talked to a few people, her introducing me as 'Mads'. Guess it will take some getting used too.
