Chapter Nine: Just Friends

When (Y/N) woke up, she could see a wall (or maybe not) painted in sterile white that made her eyes ache. The smell of medicine filled the room. There was only one place she could be in.

The hospital.

She tried to get up when she heard someone say, "You're finally awake."

She turned to her right and saw her parents there. Her mom looked as though she had been crying, and her father just looked at her with a stern expression.

"Did you have any idea what you just did?" her father said furiously, "It could've cost you your life!"

(Y/N) averted her gaze and whispered, "I'm sorry..."

Her father just sighed and said, "There's someone that wants to see you."

The door opened and that "someone" walked in.

It was Gohan.

Great. He was the last person she wanted to see right then.

She turned away and refused to look at him. She was still pretty ticked over the incident that happened and only wanted him to get out.

Her parents left the room, so now (Y/N) and Gohan were alone.

"I was so worried about you!" Gohan cried, "If you died, I..."

His voice cracked and tears started welling in his eyes. (Y/N) ignored him. If he was attempting to make her feel sorry for him, then he was wrong. She would not fall for his stupid tricks again.

He just wiped them away and then asked, "Why did you ignore me?"

(Y/N) did not answer.

"Please! Tell me," Gohan said.

(Y/N) did not answer again.

He grabbed (Y/N)'s arm and said, "Please tell me."

(Y/N) got shocked and hit his arm with her free hand but he did not budge.

"Let go of me," she said.

He did not budge.

"This isn't the time for this, Gohan!" she yelled, "Please! Just let go!"

"Just tell me what I did wrong!" he said, "I'm sorry... for whatever I did, and I want us to be friends again!"

Friends...

That is what they would ever be. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Just get out!" (Y/N) shouted, "Take a hint, and get out! Sometimes you really are one baka! Bigger than any baka I know!"

Gohan just stared at her and she glared back. Taking a deep breath, he let go, and hugged her instead.

"I'm sorry," he said again.

(Y/N) tried to push him away, but he was too strong.

"Can't we be friends again?" he asked, "Please?"

Finally, she could not take it any more. She burst into tears and cried into his chest (I'm getting a little uncomfortable writing this rn). After what seemed like forever, they broke away.

"I'm sorry for staining your shirt there..." (Y/N) muttered.

"No problem," Gohan said, then asked, "Now can you tell me why were you mad at me?"

She decided to lie to him. How could she tell him the truth about her feelings? It was just not the right time. Yet, anyway.

"Well... after what Goten said... I... um, got... upset about it," she lied.

She cringed mentally. What kind of lie was that? She wanted to kick herself on the spot!

He laughed slightly and said, "I know Goten's comment was a... um, surprise, but don't take it to heart. He's just a kid. So... are we friends again?"

(Y/N) gave him a smile and nodded slightly and he smiled that famous grin of his that always made you want to smile too.

A/N: It's a really crappy chapter, ik. Idk if this book is gonna be real short because of the story plot problems I'm having (😂)... so... BEWARE!
