Chap 6

The man had a cigar hanging from one side and he towered over the 5"3' me. I gaped as he cocked an eyebrow and grinned, revealing a set of grimy black teeth.

"What's a lassie like you doing here all alone?"

I frigging screamed.

But, the weird thing was, my mind wasn't screaming. It was relatively calm, Thinking stuff like, "Wow, they even have bullies! Like those jocks I see on tv!"

Someone clamped his hands on my mouth. That was happening a lot.

"She's a screamer. I like that". the man wiggled his eyebrows and I almost puked. Did he think he was hot? Ew. The things a guy would do to get laid.

I took a deep breath and bit down hard onto one of his minions' hands-the one covering my mouth.

He yelped and let me go. Good. I stepped his foot and readied to kick him real hard.

On the balls. That'll teach him.

Typical idiot I am, I missed and stumbled, falling to the ground.

Crap.

I got up hastily, brushed off the dirt. The four guys were rounding up on me. Shit. This was not happening. Dammit.

I sneered at them as they came closer and I took a backwards step.

Then with a sudden pivot I dashed into the salon, breathing hard. Jack was still surrounded by an abnormal amount of girls.

Where was he when you needed him? Flirting with girls. Guys are all effing jerkbags.

"Jack!" I shouted. The door swung open with a bang and I ran, without bothering to check who entered.

"Jack!" I tried again, weaving through all the barmaids and tables.

"Bloody shit!" I screamed as a gun shot rang across the room. It sounded so loud and I swear I felt the bullet whip pass my ear. Finally, at the last possible moment, Jack looked up and grinned at me. Then, he really looked at me.

The me being chased after by four burly guys probably wielding guns and cursing loudly and probably looking like some mad woman loose from the institution.

He looked behind me and pushed the girls out of his way. It wasn't really necessary as the patrons were already running away.

"Mich! Get out of here!" I ran towards him, bumping into his chest.

"We get out of here!"

"No god dammit! Git!" he shouted and reached for my shirt and pulled it.

And the next thing I knew, something clattered onto the floor and I vanished.

--------------------------------------------------

"Jack!" I screamed as I felt myself being sucked into a black hole.

Felt the air inside the vacumn hole pull at my legs and felt it clawing hungrily for me. My face tore itself off in a bid to detach from me and my hands grabbed at anything and everything.

And the worse thing was my voice was being sucked along.

I blacked out, and my body floated.

--------------------------------------------------

"Darling?"

"Michy?"

"Honey? Is she alright?" someone murmured softly.

"Look at her. Poor thing. She almost died."

"She's fine."

"How do you know that?"

"Hello? Psychic?"

"Pfft!"

"Hush, she's waking."

I felt groggy. Like the morning after you party like crazy and drank too much coke. Like the morning after a huge pillow fight. Like the moment after you frigging transported back to the present.

Know what I'm talking?

"Ugh. Where am I?"

Silence. I didn't know what was happening cause my eyes just wouldn't open.

"She's AMNESIC!"

"OHMYGODSHE..."

"Oh please!" I murmured. I cracked one eye open, flinching as the light entered.

"Evie, Sis. Go get some water for her." I heard my dad vaguely say. The rustling of feet caught my attention.

It took me a while to realize I was back in the present.

"Wha..."

"Oh darling! We missed you! Where did you go?"

"Let her breathe, Evie." my dad answered, his voice saturated with relief.

"What happened?"

"Well, you..."

"Sis." my dad pushed a glass of water to my lips and the water went down my throat. I choked an pushed it away.

"Tell us what happened. Why weren't you in your bed? Were you scared? Is that why?"

"No!" I closed my eyes again an opened them after a few seconds. My vision had blurred. It was clearer now. My aunts looked on curious and with obvious concern while my dad wiped my brow tenderly. Sudden tears pricked my eyes.

God I missed them.

"AUNTS! DAD!"

And I smothered them with hugs and kisses.
