Chap 12

"What are you? A girl?"

"I can't hear you!!!!" I screamed, and skipped along the pavement.

"Of course you are a girl, like anyone could miss that bobbling..."

"Hey! Lock that down." I muttered. "you're just jealous cause no one wants you out for a date."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. I dare you to ask that girl out." I muttered, moving to the side of the pavement--as much as I liked to see Mr Hunky detective again, I wasn't going to stay in that disgusting vacumn prison again.

"That one?" Daniel jerked his head towards a girl leaning on a pillar.

"Yeah." I smiled at him. That girl looked tough. It wasn't going to be easy.

She was gorgeous of course, almost unattainable. Well to guys like Daniel, i guess she was the norm. But she had on pink stiletto boots and black fishnet stockings. It looked nice on her long legs and toned thighs. She also wore a weird crop jacket. Huh. From the way I see things, the style in the future isnt all that different from the present.

"Watch me." he smirked and sauntered towards the girl.

I looked from afar as he reached the girl. She raised an eyebrow at him. Oh yeah, this was going to be tough. He said something and she frowned. He leaned in conspiratorially and she leaned in towards him.

No! Girl, where is your dignity! Come on! Play hard to get!

She broke into a huge smile and nodded enthusiastically. He grinned back and I think he winked. She giggled and blew him a kiss as he walked bak towards me.

"How... How did you do that!" I shrieked, glaring at that girl who looked at me and gave me a pitiful smile.

"I told her I needed her help to stop a certain stalker from following me. Plus, I just ran away from my pop's house and needed a tour." I frowned.

"How in the world did you convince her you had a stalker? I don't see nobody here." I scowled as I glared at the girl who was glaring back at me. She gave me a condescending smile before flipping her hair and winking at Daniel again. Oh lord. Seriously? I was hoping women ruled the world in the future. Nope. We were still a sucker for men.

Ugh!

"Uh...." Daniel looked uncomfortable.

"Well?"

"Nobody's not here but somebody is?" he said lamely, giving me a sheepish grin.

"What? What are you..." Holy Salmon. He didn't.

"You didn't. Tell me you didn't tell her that I was a stalker. If you value your testicles."

"Okay. I didn't." he looked away.

"You are dead!" I whispered ferociously as I glared at him. He winced.

"You didn't say I couldn't." he retorted back.

Oh. He was going to die. Thank lord I had disastrous magic.

"Follow me." I said and I slinked away to an alley. He followed obediently.

Hah!

"Why would you do that?" I asked, feigning hurt. He winced as if I hurt his feelings. Huh. Ironic.

"Geez, Mich... I didn't mean to..."

I WAS A GENIUS!

I carefully flicked my finger his direction as he rubbed his neck sheepishly. Hah! The last time I tried this spell on my arch enemy Casey Kinchley in 4th grade, she couldn't stop scratching herself.

Just you wait, Daniel.

I grinned at him as he continued rubbing his neck. Any moment now.

I frowned. Why weren't there any sparks that shoot out of my fingers? Why isn't he covered in sores?

Huh?

"Wait. Daniel. stand still." he frowned as he looked at me. I steadied myself and dilated fingers out.

"I can't do magic!" I ground out. He looked bemused.

"Were you trying to sabotage me? Why you little..."

"Daniel! Focus! I can't do magic! If I can't, you can't!" I stated agitatedly. He seem to stop and think for a moment. And then he swivelled around abruptly to face a trash bin. He pointed at it and frowned, his lips tightening in concentration.

Nothing.

"Shit." he muttered under his breath. I let out a soft wail of despair. Oh god.

"Are we stuck here forever?"

My question lingered in the air.
