"Okay. So that's the plan. Can you do it for me?" I asked and Matt nodded.
"No prob. Just give me a day." I nodded and he disappeared around the corner. Thankfully, I wasn't the only one with a hatred for Hannah. And because Hannah really liked Matt, he was the only way to get to her five-star shampoo. She had been trying to get Matt to come to her room to have some fun. FUN? Are you kidding me? Jeez! I mean, she's 14 for freak's sake! And she's already having FUN? Talk of slut... Major, major...
So anyway, Matt was going to agree, and then ask to use the bathroom, and then take her shampoo, and I was going to put temporary hair dye into it. And the colour was going to be blue so she would become a Smurf. Just picturing it made me smile. Just before Matt went in, he would sent me a text, and 10 minutes later, I would call him with an excuse for him to get out.
I walked about ten minutes before I reached my room. I was about to open the door when I heard voices.
"I can't do this, Roxy." It was a male voice. In our room?
"Oh, please?" Roxanne begged, in a high pitched voice.
"Okay, fine then. For you." He said and Roxanne giggled. It made me want to throw up. Roxanne had never been a girl to go for guys.
"Thank you!" She screeched.
"Okay. Give me it and I will get it done for you." I pushed the door open a crack and saw Roxanne giving the guy a clear plastic bag with something white inside - wait. Oh. My. God.
The guy was Chris. What was he doing?
"So, I just put these in her toothpaste, and she'll get blue teeth?" What's with the blue pranks, today?
"Yeah. That's right. Thanks, Chrissy." CHRISSY? In what effing world does she live in. His name is Chris, for Christ's sake!
"Okay, see you later, Roxy-poxy." What? Where are all the stupid pet names coming from? I saw him stand up and I knew I was about to be seen. I had to think fast to get my hands on the bag. Ah. There was a sanitary-towel bag dispenser. I grabbed it and stuffed some tissues inside. Then I strolled into the room, brushing past Chris and quickly swapping the bags as we walked past each other. He didn't seem to notice. Neither did Roxanne, I think.
As soon as he was out of the door, I pounced on Roxanne, holding up the bag.
"What's this?" I demanded.
"It's...um....a...um...." I knew what it was so I would know if she was lying.
"Don't lie to me, Roxanne." I said.
"It's...um...stuff that...um..." I raised my eyebrows at her. Roxanne was not a smooth lier. "It...um...make your...toothpaste..." Oh, so she wasn't lying, darn. "It makes it...blue." She looked at the floor.
"And, WHO, may I ask were you planning on doing this to?" I challenged, as I pointed to the bag.
She looked me in the eye and said, "Eric." in a clear, calm voice. Suddenly I realised what a dumb ass I had been.
"Why?" I said quietly, now sympathetic for her.
"Brooke used to pull pranks on us...you told me..." She trailed off and I saw a silent tear escape her eye.
"Oh, Roxy." I muttered and sat down on the bed next to her. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realise. I...thought it was for me..."
She laughed, "If it had been for you, why would I give it to Chris? I could do it myself." Oh yeah...
I smacked myself on the head, realising my stupidity. I stood up and was about to leave, when I heard her small voice,
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"To give this back." I grinned, left the room, and ran.

"Mail, guys!" Melanie said to Taylor and I as she skipped into the dorm room and threw a letter at my face. I caught it, clumsily, before examining the front. I instantly knew it was my mum's handwriting from the way it sloped and curled. I tore it open, wondering what she had to post to me, instead of telling me on the phone, when I was at my Aunts place.
'Hello, Leah.' it began,
'You are probably wondering why I am writing to you, instead of calling. I don't know myself, really, but I do know how attached you are getting to your school.' My heart started fluttering with anxiety, at what was to come next.
'The divorce with your father is getting cleared up much faster than we thought, and will be finished very, very soon. For this reason, we would like to take you home during the October holidays, instead of before Christmas. I know, it will come as a shock to you, especially as you have been able to make great friends at your new school, but your Aunt and I have decided that it would be better for you if we move in the October holidays, as you won't be quite as attached to your new life. I have decided to move to Australia, as I have a great job offer there. I understand that it is your decision whether you want to stay with your father, or I, but I think you would be happier starting a new school all over again, rather than going back to your old one.
Please give me a ring at the weekend.
I love you,
Mum.'
I stared at the letter, not wanting to believe what it said. I read and re-read it multiple times, but each time, the words were just a meaningless jumble of letters. I didn't know why I was so upset. I mean, I knew I was going to have to leave in six months, anyway, but I wanted to stay for as long as I could. I crumpled it in my hands and threw it in the bin as I ran out of the door, tears streaming down my face. I ran past multiple people from my year, who gave me strange glances, but I ignored them. I just kept running.
"Oh, look who's talking." I froze in my tracks. I peered around the corner to see Hannah with her arm around Eric, staring at Roxanne. My tears had stopped and my sadness was replaced by anger and I was trying my best not to burst out laughing. Sure enough, Hannah's hair was bright blue.
"Hannah." Eric said, sending shivers up my spine. "Get off of me before I hurt you." His voice was calm but I could hear anger in it.
"But, Eric." Hannah whined, still clinging on to him, "She's the one who's being horrible to me."
"Me?" Roxanne said, innocently. "Hannah, I have done nothing to you. Give me one thing I have done, that would make you trip me up in the hallway."
"You." She stepped towards Roxanne, removing her arm from Eric, "You-"
"What?" I said, walking in on her. "Get to the point, Hannah. I want to know what she did." I smirked.
"Oh my god, Leah." She sniggered, "You look like death." She lay her arm back around Eric, but this time he picked it up and removed it. I figured I probably did look like death, after crying and smudging my make-up, but I couldn't care less.
"No, Hannah." I rolled my eyes, "I've been practicing for Halloween. I take it, so have you?" I pointed to her hair, "Going as a Smurf this year?"
Eric grinned at my comment and I felt the butterflies rising in my stomach.
"How. Dare. You. Call. Me. A. Smurf." She hissed.
"Come on guys." I linked my arm with Roxanne's, "I've got better things to do than to listen to her shit." And away I walked wrapping my fingers in Eric's. "And get your germs off of my boyfriend." I shouted back. Eric gave me a confused look. I grinned. "Don't worry. She just hates not getting what she wants." I let go of both of them, as we turned the next corner, and resumed my running. All the way to the stables.
