~authors note~

Ah! I'm so sorry! I havent updated in so long! I am so sorry, I have had really bad writers block and I felt like no-body really wanted to read my story so I felt very let-down. Thank you so much to those of you who have stuck by me during this time. This chapter's question: Who do you think is going to get together with who? Hannah and Matt? Melanie and Matt? Will Leah ever get Eric? Or will someone beat her to it? And who will Roxanne go to the dance with? Haha, let me know what you think!

"Hi, Matt." Melanie said shyly as she slid into the seat next to him for lunch.

"Hey babe." Jeez, he moved on fast! Not that long ago I was his 'babe'.

"Okay, guys!" Taylor said, sitting down beside me. "Does everyone know what they're going to wear for the Halloween party!" she squeaked. Being a goth, Taylor loved Halloween and everything about it and was talking non-stop about the party and the concert. A chorus of 'yeah's went around the table when I suddenly realized.

"I have no outfit." My eyes went wide.

"Oh poor Leah, has no outfit." Chris mocked.

"Don't worry, Leah. I'll see what I can spare you!" Taylor smiled and I sighed.

"A little unprepared, darlin'?" Chris continued. I shrugged, not letting him get to me.

"Big deal, Firth." I said, "It's just Halloween." he choked on his food.

"JUST?" he gasped.

"Yeah. What's so exciting about it?"

"It's the best event OF THE YEAR! How could you think of it as 'just Halloween'?" he raised his voice.

"Okay, calm your beans, Chris! I was just saying!" I was surprised how calm I felt even though Chris was irritating the shit out of me!

"No, I will NOT calm my beans." he stated, "I will eat them." he pointed to his plate that had been piled high with baked beans and the whole table started laughing. Appart from me. Laughing would basically sign the victory off for Chris. I was not doing that.

"So, Leah." Taylor whispered, hoping Chris wouldn't hear. "How's the singing getting on?"

"Fine! He just annoys me like hell!" I hissed back, keeping quiet.

"Hey, Leah!" Luke/Tattoo guy said, "Who ya going to the dance with?" his voice was so loud, I was sure the whole room heard, because suddenly the volume dropped, leaving most people listening to our conversation.

"Nobody, Luke." I smiled, hoping my face wouldn't turn beetroot-red again.

"Wanna go with me?" he asked. Now the whole room was listening. I still wanted to go with Eric, but there probably was no chance. And, plus, I wanted to keep my dignity, and not just go with any guy, because I could.

"You know what, Luke?" I said to the room. "I'm sorry, if it hurts your pride, but I would prefer to go with someone else." I grinned. Yeah, of course, Matt, Chris and Luke were the most popular and hot guys in our year. But I had no feelings for any of them (unless you count friendship). The room was about to go back to the low murmur of voices when another voice popped up.

"Would you go with me, Leah?" he said. I crayoned my head to see Ashley looking straight at me. Ashley had just asked me to the dance. I looked him in the eye, remembering my first days at this school. Days with him. That was over a month ago. I had almost forgotten what he looked like. As much as I felt flattered to be asked to the dance, twice. I still refused.
