My mother had informed me of my fathers death and we were on the first flight to L.a for his funeral.
Where I'm from no one had any idea who my mother or I was; and that's the way we wanted to keep it.
She was a mistress of one of the biggest drug lords and I was the product of their relations!
When we arrived to the private grave site. Everyone was dressed in all black not an inch of color was shown on anyone.
This was a sad day in the black Mafia! My mother and my presence was astonishing once we stood front and center to view my father. He was a huge man known as the Don El Paso!
Dark tanned skin as big as the Lincoln statue he was 6'4 236 lbs and as wise as an owl! I never thought I'd see the day my father fell.
Even though we stayed on two different ends of the world we talked everyday and seen one another twice a month! He tried his best to get my other siblings and I to get along but they always treated me like an outsider!
Claudia stood next to santino and Jef staring in a daze as they closed the casket to reel my father down into his grave.
My baby sister Kloe was still crying but me I was in disbelief! My mother held me, but I whispered I'll be right back. I wanted to go greet my siblings.
"Everything's going to be ok." I softly said standing before them.
Claudia didn't even look at me, she continued in a day dream, nodding.
"We know, we're gonna take care of it." She mumbled lowly. "How you holding up?"
"I don't think it's hit me yet." I glanced over at Kloe and took her in for a hug. She sobbed like a baby in my arms as I consoled her.
"Papi's in a better place, baby, don't you worry your little heart, we're going to take care of you."
This was as nice let alone close as the three of us had ever been. But I knew they needed me more then ever now.
"If you all need anything and I mean anything don't hesitate to call me." I heard my mothers voice say.
"Don't hesitate to call us; papi won't die in vein." I added softly.
"Thank you guys, we appreciate that."
"But we got it handled." Santino chimmed in.
"I wanna help."
I quickly glanced back at my mother, her change of character surprised me. I knew she was a part of the black Mafia but I'd never witnessed it.
"Thank you miss.lauren but we' don't wanna get your hands dirty." Santino interrupted.
"You're right." I agreed. "Mommy don't go back down that road, if anyone needs to help its me, you have my number call me anytime you need me." My voice was firm and I couldn't believe what I'd just said. I had went from first grade teacher to one of Dons kings quick!
Papi always told me it was in my blood.
"Thanks, that means a lot. Let's just make it threw today and we'll discuss business later." Claudia stated still staring at papi being lowered.
This was a tough time for all of us but we had to find some strength to make Papi's legacy and empire live on.
I was 25 and ready to take part in the life style my mother once warned me about.
I was officially a black Mafia King! My father would be happy but my mother was a bit skeptically.
She didn't really trust my other sisters and she always told me if I ever joined the family business I would need to be prepared for life and death situations rather its mines or the enemies.
After the funeral we were chauffeured back to a condo in the desert on the other end of l.a!
It was a place my father told me about but never showed me.
I was realizing after the Don died there was a lot of reality to be exposed to in a short time.
The ride over was quiet everyone was in deep thoughts.

"I for one don't trust her, keep a close eye on her, she only has half of my fathers blood!" I overheard Claudia saying to santino and two other guys.
It wasn't a shock we'd always had this vendetta going on, after all I was a child from the dons mistress!
But she mustn't get it twisted! I still had him in me and my mother was a strong women!
"Mother what do you suppose they'll want me to do?" I asked reaching the room they'd provided for us to stay in.
"If they've watched their father closely they'd take the easy way in to these Cubans." Said my mother standing in the full body mirror embezzled in the stone wall.
She was a gorgeous woman tall 5'8 , with dark brown hair, high cheek bones and the skin tone glow of a proud African American and Puerto Rican italian women.
"And just what easy way is that?" I asked standing behind her, staring into the mirror also.
". Women." She Answered. "Every mobster to Druglords loves a beautiful Bi racial women."
My mother turned to me gazing at my face.
I was nearly splitting image of her just mixed with Puerto Rican, Italian, and black; standing 5'4, slim with curves and long dark brown hair down my back. My father always said he'd seen her in me every time we met.
As my mother stared at me with this telling expression, I knew exactly what she was thinking.
"I was the key to getting inside the Cuban Mafia." No one had any idea that I existed besides the black Mafia and I was just that key to getting in."p
