"Adele?" Cheeno called, snapping me out of the trans I was in.

"Yeah? What's up?" I uttered, watching him come into the room.

"You acting kind of distant, you good, what's wrong?"

"I'm okay babe, just tired, I need rest after all of this."

"Well it's safe here; you can rest sweetheart." Cheeno said sitting next to me an rubbing his hand threw my hair.

I smiled. "It's hard to sleep when people are out to kill you; I'm afraid of the nightmares I'll have." I explained.

"I'm here, Adele I'm here for you.... We're in this shit together; I'd never let anyone hurt you after you sacrificed so much to save me."

Cheeno leaned in and met me with a tender kiss. Instantly This moment took me to another place. A place where nothing else mattered.

Before I knew it, he was undressing me and we were making love.

What was it about this man, that drove me so wild?
Wild... Enough to betray my own family and save his life!

I'd never believed in love at first sight until I met Cheeno!

These moments we spent had me in a trans where nothing else in the world mattered, I felt safe, I felt wanted,,..,... It's like he was filling a void that I was missing all these years. For once in my life I felt like I belonged.

The way Cheeno made love to me was like our souls were intertwined. His aggression, hurt, and pain was released inside of me transforming into love as he came.

I fell asleep in his arms, safely.
-----••••••••••

The sound of glass shattering, awoke us simultaneously!!!

Bullets pelted into the sheet rock walls of the room as we wrestled out of bed, getting dressed quickly.

"Stay down!!" Cheeno demanded gliding across the room to fetch his gun off the dresser.

"What the hells going on!!?" I asked in a rant, while on all fours searching the floor for my shirt.

Cheeno ignored my question as his eyes raced across the room and the continuing sound of gun fire lit our surroundings loudly.

"Shit!" He mumbled kneeling and glancing out the broken window responding to his sights.

I began to feel a huge knot growing in the middle of my stomach; with the thought that this could be the Cubans.

"We're gonna have to fight our way out of this shit, grab a gun out the drawer!" Cheeno directed beaming at me threw the darkness of the room.

The rain pelted into the window dashing on the floor with the sound of guns still firing!

I did as Cheeno said, maneuvering across the wooden floor to the dresser.

I pulled open the drawer grabbing the golden silencer making sure it had amo in it and then two other pistols along with the keys to the hummer.

If I'd missed out on the Mafia life all these years : these last few weeks were damn sure making up for it!

I crawled over to Cheeno who was loading his second gun with bullets. The rain was sprinkling all over his face but he was still focused on the task at hand.

"Is it them?"  I asked nervously.

Cheeno hesitated to answer, he continued to load a third gun before notifying me.

"Yes." Said Cheeno

I swallowed hard from his answer, thinking a million thoughts at once. I didn't want him to see the fear on my face so I snapped back instantly.

"Okay, well we'll just do what we have to do to protect one another--"

It was like a war field! The gun fire was increasing rather than coming to a halt.

Cheeno knelt beside me grabbing my free hand.

"We gotta go, we can't just wait in here."

And with that being said, he lead the way to the door and I followed carefully.

The sound of mayhem was louder. It was a war zone out front. CheenoS mothers family were running for cover while others shot back trying to defend their territory.

We crept down the dull hallway with the wooden floors squeaking.

The short lady from early bumped into us.

"There here!! There here!!" She screamed nearly bursting my ear drums.

Cheeno quieted her as he told her to go take cover.

          "Watch your surroundings." He directed.

As we walked threw the house while ducking , Cheeno noticed  Antonios body by the kitchen door.

He was lying in a puddle of blood, loosing consciences! I could see the hurt on cheenoS face as he paused hovering over to him.

"It's going to be okay." I whispered softly watching him close his eyes saying a short prAyer.

We headed for the back door, in a hurry.

I could feel cheenoS spirit damping. This entire situation was chaotic! And I was caught in the cross fire.

"You ready?" He asked turning to me as we stood at the back door.

I nodded yes even though I knew for a fact I wasn't but it was do or die now; I really didn't have a choice.

Cheeno opened the door slowly and the sounds of guns, thunder, and hailing of rain met us.

We both began to shoot at the dark shadows in the yard as they exchanged fire.

Within moments we had cleared out at least seven of the bodies.

I went for cover to change guns.

"You good?" Cheeno asked hovering close by me.

"As long as you're by my side I will be." I smiled and he gave me a peck on the lips.

"You're so beautiful."

A forceful swift of air shot just inches away from our heads and broke a hole into the side of the out house we were standing by.

Someone was shooting at us.
Cheeno shoved me to the ground and rolled running ahead as the sound of bullets pelting one after another shot in our direction.

He began to kneel and shoot as I recovered my balance on the muddy ground.

Just as I went to reach for the gun I'd dropped. The painful feeling of the handle of a desert eagle hitting my skull with force, knocked me back to the ground!
