[UNDER MAJOR CONSTRUCTION] The First Dream (Book One)

Chapter 14

Swiftfeather and Twigpaw begin their journey on a some-what sunny day.

"Today is pretty nice, huh?" Twigpaw meows to her yawning mentor. Swiftfeather meows in agreeance as she tosses Twigpaw a mouse. After their quick morning meal they get up and start their day's walking.

About halfway to Highstones Twigpaw notices a fluffy orange cat.

"Hey Swiftfeather!" Twigpaw meows, prodding Swiftfeather

"Yes Twigpaw?" She meows back

"Is that a ca-" Twigpaw cuts herself off with a squeal and lowers her voice to a whisper "Swiftfeather, there is a fox ahead of us."

"Let's try to go around it and forget about it." Swiftfeather meows with confidence

"Okay." Twigpaw whispers back to her mentor. The duo jogs carefully around the sniffing fox. As they walk closer to the fox Twigpaw realizes the fox is wounded. "Yes!" Twigpaw meows aloud, forgetting to whisper. "The fox is wounded!"

"Twigpaw!" Swiftfeather whispers violently " Be quiet!" Swiftfeather beckons Twigpaw to run but her attempt to run is too late. The fox whips his head towards the cats and snarls. The tattered fox limp-runs towards Twigpaw, probably thinking she will be easier to eat. "Twigpaw!" Swiftfeather meows while pointing her black and white tail towards the closest tree "Run up that tree, NOW!" Twigpaw jumps towards the tree and climbs up about half way.

"Swiftfeather!" Twigpaw yells from above, on an outstretched branch " BE CAREFUL!" Swiftfeather doesn't have time to acknowledge the message, instead she lunges, ready to pounce up on top of the limping fox. After successfully jumping on top of the dirty-orange fox Swiftfeather ranked its flanks with her claw. The fox yelped with pain but didn't run away. Swiftfeather instead bit down on his neck and jumped off the fox's back before he ran away.
