We spent one night in the hotel but my sleep was not restful. Upon awaking I went straight to the window. My head ached. I sighed before heading to my suitcase to get dressed.
I woke Luke and we decided to leave the hotel and rent a cottage here for a little while.
The cottage we were shown was small and shabby but it was just fine for us. The windows had dark blue shutters and the door had quite a few locks so we paid a week's rent in advance and the man gave us a key with a raised eyebrow. He didn't mind though because clearly he had been trying to shift it onto someone for ages. We told him we wanted to do it up and he nodded with a smile before heading back down the narrow road.
Luke unlocked the door and pushed it open. It squeaked loudly and revealed a dark damp room and the door to the next room. We went inside and Luke locked the door.
"Wow."
"Home sweet home!" Luke winked.
I laughed as I checked out the other rooms.
"Well looks like we might have to actually do this up a bit." I flicked a light switch and found no electricity. I sighed and Luke chuckled.
"Let's hit a few shops before they close." I nodded and we left the cottage to go buy a few necessities. We dropped the shopping off before going back out again to feed.
I headed in the opposite direction to Luke and I lit up a cigarette as I walked. The streets were quiet and the air was humid and calm. I turned down a corner and saw some people arguing. I stepped back against the wall and watched them. I stood there for a few moments before one of them noticed me. The other became very shifty and shot off down the other end of the street.
The man approached, he sent an evil looks my way before pushing off past me.
"I saw."
The man skidded to a halt and spun to face me. He waited before walking back towards me.
"You saw nothing."
"Oh no. I definitely saw." I smirked. I took a drag and blew it in his direction. He wafted it away.
"You saw nothing."
"I think the authorities would like to hear..."
"No. I pay you." He came closer and got out his wallet and threw a wad of cash at me. He tried to turn away but I grabbed his shoulder and spun him towards me. I sunk my teeth into his lower neck and covered his mouth. I drained him until he collapsed to the floor. I then picked up the money and took his wallet before taking another drag.
I sat him against the wall then dropped the cigarette on him and left.
I arrived back at the cottage first and waited for Luke. He arrived in a hurry and opened the door and closed it quickly behind him. I closed all the shutters and lit a few candles that we had bought earlier. I set them up in the back room and laid out the sleeping bags and pillows.
The next night I awoke and blew out the candles. I went to my suitcase and felt around the collar of my dress and I found what I didn't really know I was looking for. I unclipped the tracker and rushed out of the cottage and threw it down the street.
"Morning darling. You alright?" He grinned pulling me into a hug. I laughed as it clearly wasn't morning.
"Morning. Yeah I'm alright." Looking around I asked. "What's all this about then?"
"Well, you said we were going to do the place up so I thought, I'd start now, then if he comes to check up on us, it looks like we actually are."
"Ah... I see, shall we start then?" He nodded passing me a roller brush and tray of white paint. The long night begun by painting the main room, it didn't take long as we painted fast. By 11 o'clock we had painted 3 of the four walls, now it was time for fun. I grabbed the pot of paint and splashed it all over the wall. Luke looked shocked at first but then laughed. We spread the paint out before it dripped everywhere and soon enough the room was painted.
