Time slowed.
In the split second, before the dagger pierced the flesh, I looked at him and reached out. It was too late; he had gone and the damage was done. If only I had have turned a few seconds before I would have caught the dagger. The fatal blow to any human had been given, but all that happened was blood, lots of blood, pouring from the deep rigid cut narrowly carved across my chest. I held back a scream as I anxiously tried to stem the bleeding. I cared not for the circumstances in which I found myself, only the current whereabouts of Damien. I remember him seeing it happen to me running my way but unfortunately not making it. My legs buckled and I reached out to steady myself. Applying pressure to the wound, I desperately began to open my eyes and search for him. I needed him but I could not see. My own blood, preventing my sight.
I was alone in the wilderness as a battle took place, I was no longer in control and I didn't like it. Tearing half my trouser leg, I ripped it to an adequate size and wrapped it tightly around my chest. The wound was starting to heal already but I was not out of danger yet.
Stumbling across the mossy floor, I dragged myself to my feet and lent against a tree. I wiped the blood from my eyes and face. Taking the dagger from my belt, I observed the scene.
Damien came into view, wrestling and knocking fighting vampires to the side. He fought them one by one but with me still in his sights, he never lost focus on his destination. I watched on, worried for his safety, he then was closer to me but the tide of attacks kept flowing. A beheaded corpse rolled past me and fell silently into the stream. The only noise that could be heard was of the raging roaring screams of anger and fear as men battled each other. The smaller insignificant details went unnoticed but were still present.
Using the rocks, I shifted myself towards Damien, unaware of my attackers presence. My hearing was muffled and vision mostly blurry but the unmistakable laughter of Michael sounded loud and clear. Fear rose up inside me, I was defenceless and injured. I turned to the noise and was confronted with the distorted image of him smirking at me. I hurriedly dragged myself across the rocks in order to put distance between us. He simply smiled and walked towards me. I wasn't going to give up.
"It's strange isn't it? How a battle can be so noisy and action packed yet here nobody is fighting and nobody can see to help you. You chose this spot rather well darling."
"I. Am. Not. Your. Darling." Unexpectedly, I felt the dagger leave my angry hand and fly through the thick air towards his head before I knew what I was doing. I watched in slow motion as it got nearer to it's destination only to be faced with complete bitter disappointment. He caught it moments before it would have killed him and he held it towards me.
"Mm... Nice try." Discarding it, he began walking towards me again.
"Why?"
"Why? What? Dear." He laughed.
"You know what I mean. You could have taken me anytime you wanted, but you chose now, this moment, in the middle of a huge battle, one you caused. What was the point... Oh..."
"You see do you, have you finally realised, I engineered this battle for this particular reason, I knew you'd put up a fight so I wanted to test you see how far you'd go. Turns out you are even better than I thought."
"What... What are you going to do now?" Reaching forward to stop him, I winced as pain shot through my wound.
"Don't! You'll make that worse." He put his fingers on his lips then on mine. Standing right in front of me he ran his fingers down my cheek and neck. He ran his cold fingers across the now bandaged wound and smirked.
Watching as he did this, I looked around for Damien, surely he'd be very close now. Michael's eyes shot back up to me. "Oh he'll be along soon, but not in time though, we'll be long gone by then." He whispered in my ear slowly. As he tucked my hair behind and forced me to watch Damien's struggle, he sunk an unexpected blade into my stomach. I gasped loudly and pushed against his grip but he held the knife in place. He pushed further and blood splurged our of my mouth. I choked as he laughed.
"Damien will find me, he will kill you Michael and I'll be glad when he does." He turned his face at this, twisting his face like a dog when watching you talk.
"Oh he will, will he?" Grabbing my neck and making me watch Damien fighting, Michael's face next to mine. I still held tightly to his wrists as he kept the blade in me. Tears of blood now ran down my face. He rose his leg slightly so it was gently rubbing against mine. He put his hand on my waist and, putting his leg down again, lifted my leg around his. "I don't think he has a chance, do you? I mean look at him, what did you see in him?" I held back the tears anxious to put things right. Michael began rubbing my leg slightly and stroking my face. I pushed backwards and I pushed him forwards away from me and he looked taken aback. The blade now still in me, I winced as I pulled it from me and held onto the wound. It couldn't heal with the blade in it.
"Do I see, what do I see in him." I corrected.
"Your mine now darling, you can't say that. We're going to be great together, take this world by storm." He grinned scanning my body. "I've had enough of this charade now, alonzy." I looked into his eyes. He was being serious. He looked down my body then forcefully pushed me to the floor and dragged me. I struggled against his grip but it was no use. I looked to Damien who had noticed and I reached out to him. He hit a new level and became extremely ruthless following relentlessly after me, slaying three vampires and the next barricade of vampires.
He was calling me but no reply could escape my lips, only blood, Michael put his hand over my mouth. I pulled at his hand but his grip tightened and began crushing my jaw. I let go.
He walked through ongoing fights as though he were the master and they evolved around him. Everything seemed disorientated and slow. I struggled once again only to find a swift blow to the head to put me to sleep. Just before I went however, I made one last call to Damien then was gone...
