(Jordyn's p.o.v)

I walked beside Hayes as we entered the library, hoping to finish our project today.

"Okay, I have all the materials we need" Hayes said, shaking the bag. I nodded and put my book bag on the floor, along with Hayes'.

Hayes set the bag on the table and we sat in the chairs.

"So, we paint . . . these right?" I asked, holding up styrofoam balls.

"Yes. We'll paint the protons yellow and the neutrons red" I nodded and got paint out of the bag while Hayes picked up wooden rods. "We'll use these to hold the electrons".

About two hours later, we were finally done with our project.

Hayes laughed. "You have . . . paint on your-" he pointed to his nose and chuckled.

I dipped my fingers in yellow paint and put some on his nose. "Now you do, too" I smirked. The librarian shushed us as both Hayes and I let out loud laughs.

"I say it looks pretty good" Hayes glanced at our model of an atom.

"Well yeah, I done the work"

"You painted like three neutrons" Hayes argued.

"I also stuck a rod in them, too" I laughed.

"Whatever" he said, smiling.

He was looking at me. I was looking at him. The telephone ringing and the librarians voice was now unheard as I instead listened to our heartbeats and the sound of our steady breaths. Hayes slowly lifted his hand up to cup my cheek. I looked down at his hand and then back at him. His bright, blue eyes were staring directly into mine. I didn't know what to do. I was frozen in my spot.

"Can I . . . ? " Hayes had asked. But instead of giving him a reply, I just continued to stare at his mesmerizing face. He got closer to me until his lips were attached to mine, making me smile in the kiss. Hayes had done the same.

After seconds went by, we pulled apart. Hayes mumbled a; "wow" as I just smiled and said; "yeah".

I seen a figure slam the library door shut. I stood up abruptly, already knowing who had witnessed that. Jerome.

"Hayes, I have to-" I was interrupted.

"Why, Jordyn? Why do you have to go, now?" He said angrily. "I'm tired of you always leaving after something you didn't expect to happen to you, happened. It's time to gain some courage!" I looked at him, emotionless.

"I-It's Jerome" I told him. He shrugged.

"Go then. Leave" I feel hurt as he said that, but I just slung my book bag on my shoulder and left the library in a hurry.

A tear rolled down my cheek. I looked around the schools hallway, searching for Jerome. I ran quickly, trying to make sure he wouldn't leave. I then ran into someone, landing on the ground. I looked up to see no one other than Jerome. He got up off the floor and said: "leave me alone, Jordyn"

"Please, stop!" I screamed. He looked taken back. "What is wrong with you? Why are you so angry?"

"Why am I so angry?" He gave a humorless chuckle. "Why do you think, Jordyn, huh? What could I possibly be angry at?"

I just stared at the ground as he said this.

"I am . . . so hurt right now!" I glanced up at him. "I see you smiling and laughing with Hayes. Remember when we use to do that, Jordyn? Who am I now, though? You don't even know me anymore! You could care less if I was your friend or not. A better person comes along and . . . Boom! You're done with me. You don't want anything to do with me. You used me for so many years because I was all that you had!"

"Not true" I mumbled, tears falling down my face.

"Yes it is! We both know it. It hurts seeing someone you love kiss a guy they've barely known for a month. Seeing them laughing and giggling with the guy that didn't want anything to do with you until recently, now that you've changed your appearance and personality. You're a fake!" He screamed. Sobs escaped my mouth.

"Why are you crying, Jordyn? Because you know it's true, don't you? You think acting like your popular and dressing like everyone else will make you liked? Newsflash; it doesn't. It makes you look scared and insecure. And that's exactly what you are, because all this world cares about is beauty and popularity. It's not fair to you, Jordyn. You were perfect before and you didn't even know it, because no one ever told you that, did they? Oh, but I did. But guess what, you were too busy wanting Hayes to like you to notice me loving you".

And with that said, Jerome walked out of the school, not looking back.
