I walked up to my next class and opened the door slowly. My class turned their heads toward the door, as did Mr. Armstrong. "You're late, Jordyn," obviously.

I walked to him and handed him the pass Mrs. Colley had gave me.

"Go sit down," he said. I made my way toward my seat and sat down. He continued with the lesson. I looked behind me to see Hayes sitting directly behind me.

"Hey," he said deeply. I grinned and turned back around. I looked around the whole entire room. McKenna was no where to be seen. She must not be in this class. I smiled and looked back up at Mr. Armstrong.

The end of the lesson kind of went like this; "and that's how an improper fraction is converted to a mixed number"

The bell rung suddenly. I quickly got up out of my seat, scrambling to the door.

I made my way to the hallway before two people said my name in in-unison. I turned around to see both Hayes and Jerome walking towards me.

"You first, bro," Hayes slapped Jerome on the shoulder. Jerome flinched from the slight slap.

"I-...I just wanted to say...hi,"

"Oh. hi, Jerome," I faced hayes. I seen Jerome's smile fade as he turned on his heels, back down the hallway.

"Yes?," I asked Hayes. He leant against the lockers.

"When are we going to work on the project...together?," He asked deeply.

"We can start today?," He nodded and smiled.

"So. I'll see you later?," He asked. I nodded and grinned. "See you at the lunch table?,"

"Sure," I said softly. He squinted his eyes while grinning and made his way to his locker.

9:49 am
As I entered the large cafeteria, I seen hayes sitting alone at the table. I made my way toward him when people suddenly sat down. I looked around the table.

Michael, Ryan, Austin, Chloe, Massie, Jamie, and-

No. Nope. Nah.

I began to walk the other way, but somebody hurriedly grabbed my arm. I looked back to see Hayes' hand gripped around my wrist.

"Stay, Jordyn," he patted the seat next to him. I was between Hayes and Austin. I glanced around at each of their faces to see the girls mouths gaped open. I didn't know where to look, so instead I just looked at my shoes.

I seen the girls whispering to themselves. I looked as Hayes to see him smiling at me. I smiled back.

"Hey, um. Jody-,"

"It's Jordyn," I corrected Jamie.

"Yeah, okay. What's that on your face?," She then pointed to a small pimple that was on my cheek.

"I don't know, Jamie. I could ask you the same question," I said, pointing to a large mole that was on her chin. She widened her mouth and gasped. I looked at Hayes to see him biting his lip to muffle his laughs. I even noticed McKenna holding in a giggle.

The laughter continued, but eventually faded from me when I spotted Jerome at the far left of the cafeteria, sitting alone, messing with his food. As I continued to stare at him, I noticed him look toward me, but noticed my stare and slowly put his head down. I got up from my chair.

"Hey, where you goin'?," Hayes asked.

"I'll be right back" I told him. I made my way toward Jerome.

I took a seat beside him. He noticed my presence, but didn't look up.

"What do you want, Jordyn?," he snarled.

"I'm sorry, Jerome. I just got too caught up with-,"

"Hayes. The guy who talked to you one day and you instantly become attached," he said.

"He just asked me to sit with him so I-,"

"I don't care. You leave me behind for someone you have known for literally two days, Jordyn. Just go. Go back,"

"No," I told him.

"What do you not get, Jordyn? I don't want you here. Nobody does!," a tear sprung to my eye.

"I-...,"

"I have been there for you since forever. Forever, Jordyn! You don't have a friend anymore, Jordyn. You think Hayes is your friend? Huh? Look at him!," I looked back at Hayes' table to see him laughing with all his friends. "Do you think he needs you? He doesn't!,"

"Shut up, Jerome," tears slipped down my cheeks.

"No, you-,"

"Shut up! I said shut up!," I screamed. My breathing became ragged. Jerome looked taken back. I looked around the cafeteria to see people looking at me. I jerked my backpack that was on my back and ran to the bathroom.

There's never a day I've had when I haven't cried. Not one. I threw my backpack on the ground and stomped on the ground as if I were a child. As I was having my little fit, someone walked in the bathroom. Great.

I seen a girl standing at the doorway looking worried. McKenna.

"I-...I just wanted to check on you," she said softly. I looked at her with pain in my eyes.

"Check on me? What changed your mind of actually caring about me?," I growled.

"Look. I just want to help-,"

"And how are you planning to do that? Take Hayes away from me?,"

"Take him away from you? Please, we're just friends" she stated.

I scoffed. "Sure. Friends,"

"Can we just...start over?," She asked in a whisper.

"Why should I trust you?," I asked in a shaky voice. "You're just going to turn your back on me,"

"Trust me, Jordyn. Please?," she pleaded.

I stared at her. "I don't know. I really don't know who to trust anymore,"

"Please?," She held out her hand. I slowly shook it.

She smiled. "Can we try to be friends?," I slowly nodded. "And it was funny what you said about Jamie's...," McKenna pointed to her chin. We both laughed while I shook my head.

I had lost a friend and received one in one day. I'll work on getting the other one back later, though.
