February 17, @ 4:30

School that day was hard after being told that Hayes was still unconscious. I was distracted the whole day. McKenna tried to talk to me, but I would just stare ahead.

Getting off the bus, I walked to my house and inside my bedroom, without a single hi to my brother or sister. I just didn't feel like talking.

From the other room, I heard a phone ringing. Tyler had picked it up.

"Hey man. Yeah, I'll tell her". I rushed to the living room and waited beside Tyler knowing that the phone call was from Nash. "Well, she's right here if you want to talk to her. Okay, here she is".

He handed me the phone and I walked to my room, immediately asking about Hayes.

"He's awake, Jordyn. He woke up at 11:30 this morning" Nash spoke. I grinned widely.

"Nash, c-can I see him soon?" I asked, hoping the answer would be yes.

I heard him sigh. "Jordyn . . . he doesn't-he doesn't look very good right now. It's kind of scary actually" I heard his voice crack. "The doctor said he'll recover partially, but not completely"

"He's still the same Hayes. I want to see him, Nash. I miss him . . . so much" I began to cry.

"I'll see if you're able to visit him. Hold on" the line went silent for a couple of seconds. "Jordyn, are you there?".

"Yeah, I'm here" I whispered.

"They said immediate family only. I'm sorry, Jordyn. He'll be home in about a week, then you can visit him, I promise" He said softly. I stood silent.

"I will wait for him" I said quietly. "Is he able to talk?".

"His speech isn't the greatest right now, but the nurse said it'll improve quickly. He's on so much medication because of the pain, he doesn't know what's going on around him. He doesn't know why everyone's gathered around him and he doesn't know why he's sitting in a hospital".

A tear escaped. "Nash, I miss him so much".

"I know you do, Jordyn, but listen, In a week, you two will be sitting side by side like you use to be".

"I hope he forgives me".

"Of course he will, but Jordyn, believe me, Hayes is my brother, I love him to death, but I know how Hayes can be. I've noticed he tends to play with girls' feelings. He doesn't even realize he's doing it either. I just don't want you to get hurt, Jordyn. You don't need to depend on a guy to make you happy".

"Thank you, Nash" I said. "I just . . . thought Hayes kind of liked me to be honest. I don't know. I guess I was just stupid to think that".

"That's what Hayes does. He drags girls along and ends up hurting them. I see he already affected you. And Hayes is the stupid one if he thinks every girl wants him. He needs to realize he's not the greatest thing to ever walk this earth. Just promise me you won't depend on a guy or anyone to tell you your worth or how beautiful you really are because you should already know that, Jordyn".

"I-I don't-"I began to say.

"You need to promise me, Jordyn" Nash said sternly from the other line.

I went silent, but then I said; "I promise".

And from that day on, I kept my promise. I started to become more strong and fearless, for I knew all the insults and rumors being said about me were nothing. It didn't get to me anymore. I wouldn't let it. I'm worth something in this life. I don't need others telling me my self-worth, I will decide it for myself.

(A/n); The point of this chapter was to give an insight on what Nash thought of Hayes and to show the disappointment he has with Hayes when he tends to put girls down without noticing. Nash therefore wants Jordyn to know to respect herself and know her worth instead of relying on Hayes or any other boy to tell her. Thank you!
