The Beginning of the end

I sat on that floor for hours wondering, what they could possibly be talking about, why they hadn't come out yet, and why everyone's faces were struck with fear. There wasn't much that worried my father, the wrath of Erza and my mother, the worry for his children... nothing else had come to mind, nothing at all. If I were to have seen what I see now maybe I would have understood why I had to stay put, but it's too late now to fix the choices I made then.

"What is taking sooo long?" I turned around to look at my siblings who were happily playing with Rose, Sylvia, and Rin. They were cute. It didn't last though. Their cuteness couldn't save them from the troubles that would soon come knocking on the door as if they were old friends.

After a few more hours the door opened. First to exit the room was Erza and Melody, soon after Storm's parents, and finally my father walked out.

"Luna, grab your siblings. We're going home." I nodded and went off to find Kaen and Layla. As I was walking away I could see my mother slinking out of the room. My father put his arm around her and she placed her hand on his chest. He gave a reassuring smile as she lay her head on his shoulder. Something was wrong and soon we would know it.

*present day*

"LUNA!"

"You're not even worth my time." The words started to fade, just like the faces. I struggled to stay conscious as his grip around my neck got tighter.

"LUNA!" Then suddenly everything was cold. It was dark. There was nothing, no sound, no light, and no smell. The last thing I saw was someone with bluenette hair leaning over my face. In those last seconds I couldn't help but continue to think about how this came to be, the night my parents left us with Mirajane at the guild. The conversation we had the night before. How they told me that it was time for me to take charge and care for my siblings.

When we made it home our parents sat us all down. My father held my mother's hand tightly as he waited for my siblings to stop bickering. Then finally he spoke.

"As you already know your mother and I and the other S Class wizards had a meeting today." He looked at my mother. She nodded in return. She's much better with words than him. So I asumed that was what he wanted and when she spoke I knew I was right.

"We've been requested for a job that is much farther than we normally go. However it is extremely important that we do go."

"Is it dangerous?" Layla looked into my mother's eyes concerned.

"No dear, it's just... routine."

"Are we coming?" Kaen said excitedly.

"You're not S Class yet; are you?" My father said smirking while he messed up my brothers hair. My mother tried to reel the conversation back in.

"Your father and I might be gone for quite some time, so we talked with Mira and you all can stay at the guild with her and Hikari. The Fullbuster children will be staying there as well. We leave in the morning, so I want you to pack tonight. Of course you can come back to the house with your sister at anytime. Now I need you both to go to bed while your father and I talk to Luna." Layla and Kaen stood up and walked towards their rooms. My parents told them goodnight and told them to make sure to pack for tomorrow morning. When they came back they seemed more concerned.

"Luna. This job is more serious than we have led on. We may be gone for a matter of weeks." My mother said pulling back her long blonde hair from the front of her face.

"Where are you going and what makes this job so important? Why can't I come?" I asked unknowingly how much this job hit home.

"We can't reveal that Lu and I think you know that. We also can't tell you why this job is so important. You are just going to have to trust us. And lastly you're not an S Class wizard. We know you can handle yourself but we need you to watch your siblings." My father said.

"I'm your daughter! Of course I can handle myself, you trained me. Don't you even try and tell me I wouldn't be safe. It's a mission for S Class wizards. So what?! I could get experience! With you, mom and the Fullbusters I'd be perfectly safe. Not to mention with who came out of that room I'm sure there's more of you!"

"Luna!" My mother went to speak but my father quickly stopped her.

"You're right... but that doesn't change our decision. I want you packed in the morning just like Layla and Kaen. You will watch over your siblings and you will not leave their side. Do I make myself clear?" He was so stern, unmoving.

"Crystal." I said as I huffed off to Layla and I's room. We packed and went to bed shortly after.

Little did I know this would be the last time I spoke to my father.
