After walking for hours through the forest. I began to wonder where we were. In the darkness of night there was nothing to be seen. The girls were tierd but we couldn't set up camp. Hikari and I knew what we were doing or at least we thought we did.
"Syl isn't doing well" Rose called out from behind us. "I think we should set up some sort of camp".
Hikari and I looked at each other. We needed to keep going but at what cost.
"You're right; we'll set up camp". Hikari walked over toward the surrounding trees and began placing her electric marbles until we were surrounded. We lay Sylvia down for Layla to take a look."How bad is it?" I asked.
"It's bad but she'll make a full recovery. She just needs time. It would be a one time fix if Wendy were here, but you only have me."
"Don't belittle yourself kid, you've got more power than you think. Wendy trained you and she trained you well. She'd be proud." Hikari smirked. I had never seen this side of Hikari before but I was glad I was able to see it then.
We sat in silence for long periods of time around the fire I had made. Every once in a while I would try and crack some jokes to lighten the mood, however it was a tough crowd to please. Hikari and I took turns guarding the perimeter while Rose looked after Layla as she healed Sylvia. Ever so often we'd force Layla to take a break, it was too tasking for her to continue without rest even though we knew she would do it. It was later that night the Sylvia finally came through. She spoke very few words but we didn't care, we were just so glad she was going to be ok.
Later that night after the girls had fallen asleep Hikari and I sat by the fire, watching over our camp.
"So, Storm." Hikari turned to me
"What about storm?" I asked
"You know him better than I do, Infact you you probably know everyone better than I do."
"What are you trying ask me here? Are asking for advice?"
"Advice of sorts." Her face was still as serious as ever.
"I'm confused, are you asking me how to make friends?" My question sure did change her facial expression.
"No, no. That's not what I'm asking, that's not what I'm asking at all. What I'm trying to say is that we are fairytail wizards, and we are strong but we're stronger together. Now Storm is a good friend of yours and he is most likely the ring leader for all the boys. We need to find him and since you know him best I thought I'd put you in charge of that plan."
"Oh." To be honest I was shocked. Hikari, handing the reins over to me because I was the best suited for the job, that was unheard of.
"Wake me up in an hour and then I'll take over watch shift, ok?" She winked and then layed down. For the next hour I thought about everything that had happened, what the future would be like. Hikari and I were bonding... In an odd and unexpected way.
I never woke Hikari, there was no need. The night was quiet and I didn't mind being up, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway. I sat close to Layla and kept her warm. She was so brave, they all were. Hikari and I were going to get them home but until then we would keep them safe. Together we were our strongest selves.
At first light we had to leave. Hikari woke up early before the sun. She scolded me on the importance of sleep and how it would be a long day.
"We have to keep moving forward, there is no time to wait. If the members at the guild didn't succeed then..."
"Didn't succeed?" I spat the words out of my mouth as they didn't belong. "Didn't succeed? How could you say such a thing. We're the strongest guild in Fiore. We left your mother back there, you know? The she devil herself and you doubt them? How could you?"
"Look I want to believe everything is alright, but that's not logical. Right now our only concern is the girls. They are here, they are safe, and we are in charge of them. They need someone they can trust, someone to guide them through this hard time. So it's time we step up to the plate Luna. Because right now we're all they have." We sat there in silence until the sun began to rise. "We should wake the girls, we need to move out".
"We need to find food."
"Excuse me?" Hikari looked at me curiously.
"We need to find food." I said "look you're right. We're responsible for these girls now, so we have to take care of them. Now I'm not sure how long we've been out here but people need food to survive and I know a creek where we can find fish."
"Alright. We'll find food. Take us to the creek."
