Chapter 7

---3rd person---

Kiyomi had healed Rei's arm as much as she could.

No, that's a lie. 

She could have healed it more, she could have made him fit to fight in time for the next exam, but if she did that, she knew that they would question her. 

So she didn't, she just healed the basics, and a bit extra. She needed him to survive but she didn't want to seem too suspicious. 

Kiyomi spent those four days resting, never once leaving the room she was given. She didn't want to see Gaara. She knew he was here. He'd finished a couple of hours before them. She wasn't surprised; in fact, she was more worried about Akari.

Ever since the start of this exam, Akari's been acting weird, distant and cold towards Kiyomi. Kiyomi knew why, she knew she didn't trust her anymore. 

Rei on the other hand was out of it. He could see that Akari was acting weird but he didn't question it. Fact is, he was asleep most of the time with Akari by his side. She was doing her best to take care of him. 

Rei was slightly confused as to why and how Kiyomi knew medical nin-jitsu. He had never seen her perform it before and he had never heard her mention that she knew some.

He tried thinking back, tried remembering all their missions as to when she could have used it, but he came up with nothing, he was at a dead end. 

"Hey, Akari.." started Rei as he watched her change the bandages on his arm.

"What is it?" she asked, her voice normal but it had a tinge of harshness to it.

"How... how did you know that Kiyomi knows medical nin-jitsu?" he asked.

She froze for a second remembering..

---flashback---

"This is it." Akari announced as she stood in front of a tree, glancing next to her to see Kiyomi in the same position as their eyes locked.

"Hell yeah!" grinned Kiyomi. "They day we finally decide who the stronger kunoichi."

Akari couldn't help but let a smirk form on her lips.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" she asked.

"What this?" questioned Kiyomi with a confident grin. "Afraid you're going to lose?"

"No." Akari replied simply. "Just don't come crying to me when I waste your ass."

"Alright then, you know the rules?"

"Yup. Climb to the top of the tree with no hands, then sprint 500m till reaching the kunai's. Throw them perfectly into the circles. Then sprint through the obstacle course without getting hit but the hidden shuriken."

Kiyomi smirked.

"Alright then, 3..."

"2..."

"1..."

"GO!"

And they were off; sprinting up the tallest trees in the forest, both at quite close speeds but Kiyomi was slightly ahead. 

Both of them quickly reaching the top of the trees only to leap off them, Akari jumping to the ground while Kiyomi saved time by jumping from branch to branch, knowing exactly where the kunais were.

They reached the kunais Kiyomi now a couple of seconds ahead of Akari as she took the kunais in hand, throwing them at such a speed that Akari's eyes widened. She never knew Kiyomi could do that! But she wasn't going to let that stop her.
