Chapter 21

---3rd person---

Time itself seemed to stop. No one moved, no one spoke, no one could do anything in the seconds that they watched Kiyomi's body slowly falling to the ground.

Naruto's eyes were wide with shock, so were Gamabunta's and Gamakichi. They couldn't believe what had just happened.

"Kiyomi!" yelled Naruto as he tried to run to her, but he couldn't, the Sand held him in place. 

Gaara stayed frozen in place. His eyes went wide as he replayed the entire scene over and over in his head. 

He saw it. He saw everything. He saw her ready to attack him; he saw her hesitation before a smile appeared on her lips. 

She spun the sword around at impossible speed as it was facing her instead of him. He then saw her mouth words to him. Words he didn't understand. 

And then, she drove the sword through her own heart.

He watched that scene over and over in his mind. He didn't understand. 

He didn't understand the huge amount of pain that struck his heart after she did that, he didn't understand why she did that. All he could feel was the massive amount of pain, emptiness and loneliness in his heart.

What.. what does it mean!? He thought as he clutched his head, trying so hard to understand. Why does it hurt so much!? Why did she do that!? 

Naruto on the other hand, could only watch as Kiyomi's body fell from the air and into the trees below them.

Anger and rage built up inside of him. He too didn't understand why Kiyomi had stabbed herself. But he wasn't going to let Gaara get in his way.

Red chakra came like a giant wave out of Naruto, emanating from his body, surrounded him and forcing the sand away from his body. 

Gaara's attention was now drawn to Naruto. 

"Get ready you crazy monster!" yelled Naruto as he stared right at Gaara, both determination and anger in his eyes.

Fear instantly struck Gaara, he was so confused, his mind was still on Kiyomi that he had forgotten about Naruto. 

But his fear of Naruto drove him to quickly make hand signs, ignoring Kiyomi's body as it hit the ground below them.

"Die!" yelled Gaara as he sent his Sand at Naruto, just catching Naruto before he could his him.

Naruto's fist now only inches from Gaara, he tried bringing his fist back, in an attempt to hit Gaara, but the sand around his wrist was too strong.

"I've..." started Naruto as he struggled in the Sand's grip. "I've had it with you!" 

And with that, Naruto smashed his forehead against Gaara's.

About 10 minutes earlier...

"Sakura I'm fine! We need to go back and see if Naruto's okay!" growled Sasuke as he yanked himself out of her grip and began jumping back to where the fight was happening. 

"Sasuke!" Sakura called after him in her winy voice. 

But Sasuke ignored her. He was going to watch this fight and find out just what was going on.

Back to the present time....

Sasuke could only watch as Naruto smashed his forehead against Gaara's.
