waking up at about 10am feeling like a complete mess is terrible. Walking down the stairs even is weird. There is music coming from one room, I can hear singing in the other, I can see Delano eating cereal from here and assuming from the smell Reece is probably burning down the kitchen.
I think cereal is a smart choice today. Sammy's playing 2k on the couch and Nash is no where to be found.
I let out a breath and sit on the sofa opposite Sam. I phone my mother and tell her about the guys coming over.
I assume that their parents already know but I don't know how long they're planning to stay. Either way I let her know and she carries on about her day.
"hey, bro." I look up at Sammy who's trying to get my attention but won't look away from the game. Raising my eyebrows, I signal him to talk.
"anything you want to tell me?" He asks. I don't really know what the means. Well, duh, it means exactly what he asked but I don't know what he's talking about. So far everything's been normal, so I assume he's talking about my grandmother.
"I mean, not really. I talked to some lady a couple days go. Found out that I got money and this baby," I gesture around me, to the house. "is mine."
He nods understandably, licking his lips as he focuses hard on what he's doing. "Damn, that's good. That's great - amazing even - but that's not what I'm asking about." He laughs towards the end. Almost teasingly. I frown in confusion. I don't know what he wants me to say.
"Um..." I huff. "I'm lost."
Finally, he pauses the game and turns to me. After looking around he begins to speak. "Nash." He says matter of factly. My hands fondle with my basketball shorts but I don't get nervous.
"what do you mean?" Even though I ask, I don't receive an answer. Just a suspicious stare and then a nonchalant shrug. He turns back to the PlayStation.
"I guess if you don't see it, I don't see it either." It now dawns on me what he's trying to imply. But the thought of that makes my insides feel a little hollow so I keep my mouth shut. Excusing myself, I wonder what made him ask. I wonder what made him notice.
