You sped along the road, dust spraying out behind you from the wheels. You were taking in the scenery as you drove along, not that there was much to take in. Just plain wasteland, with some random hills and cliffs popping up every now and then with the odd tuft of grass. Not that the grass was alive but still, at least it looked different from Midgar.
You were getting bored of seeing those same streets everyday, and the amount of people there was overwhelming sometimes. It was just getting too crowded for your liking.
You looked behind and you could just about make out the city outline. "We've gone that far already" you half questioned yourself in your thoughts.
You turned back around and pressed closer to Cloud so you could get a better look over his shoulder pad (thing).
"Someone's restless" you heard said man comment from in front of you. "Sorry, I'm just hyped about seeing new places and-" you held you tongue after realising what you were about to say.
"And what?" Cloud peered over his shoulder for a second to look at you but then had to turn back around because you know, driving and all that.
You took a deep breath and said "and I finally get to spend some time with you" your voice wobbled as you said the sentence and you could feel your face heat up.
"Oh my GOD (Y/N)! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!? SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!" You mentally beat yourself for saying that until Cloud interrupted your thoughts with a rather, no extremely unexpected reply.
"Me too-" he paused, "I'm looking forward to spending time with you too (y/n). It's been a long time since we last did anything like this."
You definitely did not expect a reply like that. Hell, you didn't expect a reply at all. This is Cloud strife! He doesn't say things like that.
You started to inwardly fangirl but on the out side you hummed in response and rested your head on his left shoulder blade.
You listened to the sound of his heartbeat. It was so calming. You both had fallen into a silence but it wasn't an awkward silence, it was one of those silences. You felt safe, secure, warmth and overall, you were just happy to be with him.

So, REALLY short chapter but I didn't want to put a timeskip after that last part coz I thought I did quite well with that HAHHAHA
