Tip #9: BE UNPREDICTABLE

Quite honestly, always remember to actually surprise your readers. Cliffhangers, plot twists, characters doing unexpected things in a story-it all helps with making your writing much more interesting. I am not saying you need to do this constantly or within each and every chapter, but every once in awhile, making a surprise twist in your story will make your readers more interested and curious to what happens next.

Now you may be asking, how can I come up with engaging plot twists and surprises? The answer is simple. Just use your imagination. Dream of the characters (or picture being them) and think of what they are going through. You also want to think of the story and its development and where your plot is actually going. Then imagine different ways your story can turn out, but choose the best and unpredictable way. Choose the idea you like the most. Be creative ;) And make sure it makes sense at the end.

When your characters make a surprising turn or decision in a story, there's a plot twist, something exciting happening, or some cliffhangers that occur. There's bound to be a ton of, or more, new interest in your story. You do not want your readers to predict the ending or the turn-out of your book. Rather, you want them to wait excitedly for each new chapter, wondering what may happen next. You want them to think of many different scenarios in their mind and be surprised when an official one happens. This collaborates and goes hand-in-hand with our previous tip, Be Bold. Therefore, don't be afraid to branch out and surprise your readers a little in your stories! :D Be unpredictable when writing. You'll see it helps. :)
