Tip #16- Music
Okay so this tip is what I personally believe will be helpful when writing. For me, when I listen to music, it just helps me concentrate more and just sets the mood for whatever I write. I either listen to something with lyrics in them or just instrumental music. I mainly listen to instrumental ones though since they are better for concentration.
I feel like when you listen to music, it helps set the mood and mind to what exactly you are adding on paper. For example, I listen to more mellow, depressing songs when writing something bittersweet or plain heart-wrenching. I listen to upbeat songs when writing action and comedy. I listen to, not necessarily sad songs, but songs that have a calm and sad sounding tune to it when writing something that is a little depressing.
As you can see, whatever I listen to, that is what goes on paper. I just feel like that helps me as a writer. When I listen to some type of music, it inspires a strong emotion that goes with the song and allows me to write it down.
So I just wanted to share this with you. If you are ever having a hard time writing something down because you don't know which direction to go or what mood to set up, then music is going to be your friend in this aspect. Listen to something similar to what you are trying to portray. For example, if you want to write something sad, listen to sad music. You want something happy? Listen to happy music. The list goes on. So feeling stuck? Put on some music and you'll find that can be helpful.
