"Are you sure you're going out in those kick boots," asked a familiar sounding voice. It was Oswind who was getting Misty ready to fly out to their post.
"He refuses to wear anything but those." Gemstripe replied getting a whinny from Cyber.
"are you doing okay? You look like you are exhausted. I can take Cyber the first stretch if you need to rest"
"I'm fine Owsind, Just been working hard getting Cyber ready for something like this. He's read to start and end this"
"Yeah, I know. You almost got the whole village sick doing it."
"That was not on purpose"
"i know, I'm just teasing you. You better hurry up and get on, the town's waiting outside," and with that she got on Misty and the two walked outside to hang with the others.
"have fun Misty" Cyber quietly nickered.
"Alright boy, lets get you tacked up" Gemstripe said grabbing the saddle before the saddle blanket. He set the saddle on Cyber's back then grabbed the saddle blanket only to be nipped by Cyber. "Oops, Sorry Cyber" He removed the saddle and put the blanket on then put the saddle back on. He next grabbed the martingale and bridle. He put the martingale on Cyber, thread the girth part through an imaginary girth and attempted to bridle Cyber. All Cyber did was hold his head too high and away from Gemstripe. Occasionally he would smack Gemstripe with his tail to help him see the big idea. Gemstripe was being an oblivious fool so Cyber resorted to the last thing he wanted to do. He sat down and let the saddle slide off his back.
"Cyber!" Gemstripe shouted "How did you break your Girth?"
How dumb is this fool? Cyber wondered then looked over at the girth behind Gemstripe.
"hm, I must have taken it off"
After A few minutes of trying and trying to accurately tack up Cyber, Gemstripe finally got it right. He mounted Cyber and they walked out of the barn. Gemstripe's head felt like it was spinning. Was he okay? he wonder only to push that thought aside and shake his head.
As Cyber walked out he spotted all the horses on his team. Blaidd Drwg, Misty, Toby, Koda, Web Runner, and Spirit Keeper. Toby he has met once before but he's never interacted with Blaidd Drwg, Koda, Web Runner or Spirit Keeper. Web Runner had the colors of the rainbow on him as well, Koda's design looked simple but it suited him, Spirit Keeper was clearly guardian status by her posture and Blaidd Drwg's Polamino coat shown in the light. He would only have to really interact with Web Runner and Spirit Keeper though. He could see some of the others while trying to get to his second spot to finish this.
Beginning to chew on the bit, Cyber walked towards the gate, Gemstripe wavering above him. He had a bit of paper in his hand raised above his head. As Gemstripe was looking out into the crowd, everything began to blur together and he began to sway backwards. Immediately he grabbed onto Cyber's neck squishing the paper a bit and told cyber to gallop off. Cyber obliged and the began their journey to point O for the first hand off. The other members of the team took off to their stations. Hopefully, Gemstripe will stay on until then and make it to the third spot the two needed to be.
