Finally, Web Runner got here. It felt like we were waiting at check point I for an eternity. I have a sickly rider and all he's done is flop down on my neck. He's really unresponsive. I hope he tied himself on other wise he's going to be left in the dust when the message is put back in my saddle for the final stretch. I would be the one delivering the message to the cheiften. I just hope we are the first there.
The moment the pouch was secured shut, i started off. First at a trot then up to a full blown gallop. My rider was semi conscious of what was going on around him and managed to some how stay on despite being a total bouncing balloon the whole ride. I tried not to think about it too much and focus on my trajectory.
Soon we came upon the camp. I decided to give my rider a break and slowed to a soft trot. There was no reason to gallop through the masses of people just to get to the chief. Luckily there weren't any children around so the only ones in begging positions were some of the adults. There were others preparing for something. They had their war paint on which only meant they were preparing for war which furthered that we were not the first to deliver the news.
I failed my team...
I shook my head. I still had to deliver the message anyways. It was part of the job here.
My rider was out cold so getting the chief the letter could be hard.
I finally reached the chief after the sea of people finally parted. He instantly went up to the saddle bag i had and pulled out the letter and began reading it.
The people let out a great cheer. Maybe we were first.
