It was the day Nika and Tama would start their run over KEA's cross country course. It was cold and threatened to snow with clear skys still showing. Nika was ready. Tama began brushing her off then putting on every piece of crucial tack. The bridal, the bit, the martingale, the saddle pads, the saddle, the girth, and finally the kick boots. Then Tama put on her helmet and protective vest and hooked a waki taki to her belt. She walked Nika out to where she got on. The two troted over to the starting gait and waited for the signal. Tama saw Machi next to sharp shot and smiled at them. Machi believed the pair could do it.
Then the signal sounded and Tama and Nika were off. Up came the first jump, a pile of three logs. The two cleared the pile with room to spare. Nika was giving these huge beautiful leaps over the jumps which Tama was thankful for. It would make them look better and improve their score. She kept spurring Nika onwards into a fast gallop. Sadly, Nika hadn't been a race horse before this but she was bred to be one. Her whole species was made here at Kurokitsune E A and it would be amazing if she won at her home stable. Tama felt confidence rushing through both of them. Next were the huge steps. Nika climbed the steps with a bit of trouble, after all they only practiced the area once and they'd never really encountered a jump such as that. The continued on for quite some time, clearing jump after jump. Soon the jumps began getting weirder and weirder which made Nika uneasy. But she still hasn't spooked. By the time they reached the first checkpoint, Tama needed a quick break. She help Carson give Nika some water and a bit of food then got some for herself as well. After they finished there, they continued on their way. They were a third of the way done.
