*Zayn*

Kaci had just fallen asleep in my arms when there was a knock at the door.

"Who's at the door?" she mumbles.

"I don't know. I will go check."

"I don't want any visitors."

"I know, I'll get rid of them."

She nods and I unwrap my arms from her body.

I walk downstairs and open the door to see the boy who broke her heart.

"She doesn't want visitors," I say coldly before adding, "especially not you."

"I know it may seem bad, but I have an explanation." His eyes are full of sorrow.

"Niall, you know I love you man, but you hurt her bad."

"I know, but I have a reason." This time he walks right past me and runs upstairs.

I follow him up and he storms into the room, waking her up.

"Zayn, I thought you said-" she stops, midsentence, as she spots Niall. "Why did you let him in?"

"He pushed passed me," I told her.

"Charlie," Niall starts, but she looks away from him. "Please let me explain."

She ignores him and crosses her arms.

"Say something please. I need to make this right." His eyes begin to fill with tears.

"Explain what, Niall?" she shouts at him. "There's nothing to explain! You hurt me."

Now Niall gets angry and shouts "You hurt me too! I saw you! You were kissing Josh! You were kissing my own fucking mate. I was upset and ran outside. That girl kissed me!"

"Well, Josh kissed me!" she shouts back. "I tried to pull away, but he held me there. You, on the other hand, continued to kiss that slut!"

"I was pissed! I was hurt! I didn't know what else to do!"

She sighs and looks down to her lap.

"So what does this mean? Are we going to break up again?" Niall asks softly. "Because I don't think I can handle breaking up with you."

"I don't know, Niall. Just give me time to think. In the meantime, I'm staying here for a few days."

"I understand." Niall whispers. "I love you, Charlotte."

He turns around and passes me, whispering on the way, "Take care of her."

I nod and listen to the door close behind him.

*Niall*

When I got home, instead of going inside, I sat on the front porch, put my head in my hands,

And cried.

I hurt her.

After I told her I never want to hurt her again.

But I did.

Why do I always do this?

She doesn't deserve me.

She deserves someone who will treat her right, who will never hurt her, who will make sure she doesn't cry, who will never have to catch her because they won't let her fall.

I've let her fall to many times.

I've shattered her heart too many times.

I need to leave.

Get out of here.

I need to be anywhere but here.

I stand up, wipe away the tears and go inside, grabbing a paper and pen.

I write her a note and leave it taped to the front door, before getting in the car.

I turn the engine on.

And drive away.

She will be better off without me.

Everyone will.

It's better if I leave.
