TESSA: HYDRA BASE
PRESENT DAY

~{}~

I sat in my cell for 10 minutes, listening to the explosions and screaming outside through my little window. There were zaps and roars, too, but I didn't know what those came from.

Finally, I heard metal clanging and gunfire outside my cell. Is this my rescue or my death? A recruit hid in my room behind my doorway, firing every once in a while, and then he ran out again, but only to be knocked back in with a shield and be shot. Two men stepped inside my cell but didn't notice me. They started to make a plan of some kind. I observed them.

The one kept calling the first Cap. Cap had a red, white, and blue suit with armor on it. Red and white stripes and a star on the chest, but blue everywhere else. The blue was mostly covered with gun holsters and armor. The shield was also red, white, and blue and was a kind of bulletproof metal. Was this guy supposed to be a symbol for America or something? He had leather gloves and boots on. He was wearing a blue helmet, too. It looked as if he worked out at a gym a lot too, because he was really big. He looked tired and beat up with bruises and blood all over him.

Cap was calling the other one Bucky. Bucky had an all black suit on with armor all over. The only thing not covered was his arm, which seemed to be made of metal. It had a red star on the one side. He had brown hair and didn't have any head protection at all. He only had his guns that were strapped to his legs and a knife on his leg. He was a little smaller than Cap, but didn't look any less threatening. Bucky also had bruises and blood in places.

They were now arguing. They still didn't notice me. Good heroes they are.

"Hey, you are not acting as bait again," Bucky sternly said.

"Bucky, we can't beat them with you being bossy," Cap said politely. "This wasn't my idea, okay? I'm trying to get us out alive." Bucky turned and saw me. I gave him a small smile and then started to work on getting my hands out of the cuffs.

"Bucky, are you listening?" Cap asked him. Cap was turned around and drawing with a sharpie on the wall to make a map. Bucky tugged on Cap's sleeve, but kept looking at me.

"Cap, I think you need to -"

"Bucky, I'm trying to show you how to distract them. So you go around this corner - " Bucky started to tap Cap on the shoulder, hard.

"Steve!" Bucky yelled. Cap stopped and looked at him.

"What?" Cap yelled back.

"We aren't alone," Bucky said as he turned Cap around to face me. Cap looked at me and gasped. He ran over to me and started helping me undo the handcuffs while Bucky worked on the ankle ones.

"Are you okay?" Cap asked me as he undid the handcuffs. My wrists started to bleed. I tore off a piece of my shirt to wrap around them, but he stopped me. "Let me do that."

"Yeah, I'm fine," I managed to say, but my voice didn't sound too good. Cap finished on bandaging my wrists and Bucky undid my ankles. Thank gosh that they didn't have the spikes. They helped me up.

"What's your name?" Bucky asked me as I put on my shoes.

"That's not important," I said quickly.

"How long have you been in this place?" Cap asked me as we walked to the training room.

"Since I last escaped or when I first got here?" I asked as I took some knives and guns and started to prepare myself to get out of HYDRA at last.

"First got here," Bucky said warily, brows furrowed.

"I was 4. I'm 12 now," I answered as I went to the other side of the room. "They trained me to be an assassin, but I never killed anyone outside of the base. I only saved one person. I have no idea where he is now. Probably living a normal life." I was putting ammo into the pistols I had grabbed.

"4 years old?" Cap asked me as I finished loading up. I nodded. "How did you - "

"Kidnapped me while I wandered away from my dad at the park," I answered before he could say it. "Need any ammo?" They both shook their heads. "Then let's go."

We ran out of the room and headed for the outside. We all worked together to kill every HYDRA recruit we saw coming. But I sadly didn't see or kill Stan or Evan. I stopped them at the door.

"What month is it?" I asked them.

"September," Bucky answered. I saved Clint in June?

"So it's September what?"

"15th. You really didn't know?" Cap asked. I shook my head. I started to go out but Cap stopped me. "Who did you save?"

"Why?" I asked. I looked behind them and I saw a recruit pointing a small rocket at them. "Look out, guys!" I shoved Cap and Bucky out of the way and got shot in the hip. I groaned loudly, but before the recruit could shoot again, I shot him in the neck. I'm not sorry this time, sucker. I dropped to the ground and tried to breathe slowly. Bucky and Cap stood by me, trying to check it.

"It just grazed you, but it's still bad," Bucky stated.

"Thanks for the update," I say sarcastically. They looked at me. "I'm sorry, it hurts."

"Why did you take that for us?" Cap asked me.

"If you save me, I'll save you," I simply stated, trying to get air steadily. Bucky shook his head. Cap put his hand to his ear and talked.

"Romanoff, Barton, you copy?" Barton? Are you kidding me? That's probably a different Barton, though.

"I copy, Cap, what's going on?" I heard a voice say. That is definitely Clint. Did he find me?

"We found a hostage here. She got hit. Come pick us up."

"What's their name, Cap?" I heard Clint ask as Bucky helped me up. I kept a hand over my hip to try and stop the bleeding.

"Why is that important, Clint?" Cap asked. I heard Clint sigh.

"I'm almost there with the van, okay? Where are you?" Clint asked.

"Front doors," Cap answered. I shook his shoulder and he turned to me. "What?"

"Is that Clint Barton?" I asked. "Does he shoot a bow and arrows? Can he add different tips on them?"

"Yes, yes, and yes," Bucky answered quietly. "Why do you - oh my god." I could see a smile forming on his face. "He's the idiot you saved, isn't he?" I nodded.

"Cap, I'm outside. Come on out," Clint said through the com. I smiled as I thought about what I was going to do. I told my idea to Bucky and Cap, and they agreed, smiling.

"Hey Clint, this girl in here says that she told you not to fall off any more roofs before you found her. Is that important?" Cap said, trying to sound serious. We hear a car door slam outside and Clint comes barging in. I looked at him trying to process all of this.

"Good, you didn't die yet," I said, grinning big. "You haven't fell off any roofs in the last three months, have you?" I ran as fast as I could into his arms, which knocked him down.

"Oh my god, Tessa, you're alive. I knew it!" He said, hugging me hard.

"You found me, Clint," I said, starting to cry. "You did it. You saved my life, again - dang it! That means I owe you," I said through his shirt. I looked up at him. I saw a frown on his face. "Did I do something?" He suddenly picked me up bridal style and carried me out the door, Cap and Bucky trailing behind.

"No," Clint said. "I just have one question."

"What?"

"How many freaking times did they hurt you?" He asked while he looked at my rocket wound and my wrists. I had shorts and a white tee on, so he also looked at the scars.

"Every time I tried to escape," I said, smiling. We got to the van and he laid me in the back on a blanket. I started to get dizzy. "Clint, I think I'm gonna sleep now," I said as everything went black.
