"No, no. I want it over there." I told the woman, who was going to be the interior stager, to put the dresser under the landscaped window. "Perfect."
A lot of people were coming into Rose's new room. Some where the painters who were going to paint the walls a pale pink with blue cloud designs. Others were planning on how to add the carpet I had just ordered to be installed.
I was outside the room with Tania, the interior stager, trying to figure out how everything was going to be set up. Rose was in the living room with Julissa watching cartoons. She had told me that when she was in the orphanage, they couldn't watch television. That reminded me that I had to see Ms. Harrison today. That will have to wait.
"So, I think the bed should go here and the rocking chair over there in the corner." Tania pointed at the corner of the room in her tablet. She made a digitalized room in her tablet so it would be easier to move things around rather than doing it in person.
"Yeah, that sounds good," I replied.
Tania and I have known each other for a while. We both went to the same University, but of course with different classes. We were room mates for the last two years of college and ever since then we have been in contact. She had staged my house when I bought it and been doing that ever since. Now, she was doing Rose's room and I had heard she has an amazing reputation for staging children's rooms.
"Okay, I will order the furniture because it has to be custom made for the size. When do you need the room to be finalized?"
"In around two to three days. The paint doesn't dry until tomorrow and the carped is going to be installed tomorrow as well," I informed. She nodded her head.
"Okay, I will come the day after tomorrow to place the furniture," she said.
"Great, I will see you then," I said as we started to walk down the stairs.
"So, you think you're going to survive with a child?" She asked me out of the blue. I stopped walking down the stairs, and when she noticed that I was walking no more, she paused too.
"I think so," I responded. "Why, does it seem like I won't?"
"No, no. I'm not saying that." She hesitated and walked up the stairs where I was still standing. "It's just that you don't have a husband and you're a busy woman. Don't you think it's going to be a bit of a challenge to take care of the little one?"
I sighed and nodded my head. "It is, but since when have I not taken a challenge? This company was a big challenge, but I made it."
"True." She nodded her head slowly. "But, if you ever need help just give me a call."
"Thanks Tania," I said meaningfully. She smiled and lightly patted my back. We walked down the remaining stairs to the door.
"Well, it was nice seeing you again," she said. "Take care of that beautiful child."
I laughed and nodded. "Of course."
She waved goodbye as she walked out the door. When the door closed, I stood there thinking about what she had said. It was going to be a challenge taking care of Rose with no husband.
Oh, well.
The door bell rang, interrupting my thoughts. I thought it was Tania coming back for something she had forgotten. I opened the door with a smile, but it was quickly replaced by a scowl.
"What do you want?" I hissed.
"It's nice seeing you too, Alessia," he said with a pleased smile. Usually, his smile would have swept me away, but not today.
