When I was a child, I remembered enjoying school. I loved learning new things and making friends and experiencing new things. I loved it when we would go on field trips and have game days. I thought school was amazing, and every day I wanted to learn more and more.
I advanced pretty quickly in my class, excelling in reading, writing, and math. I was placed in advanced classes and was convinced to join decathlons and spelling bees. Most of the time I won. But when I did lose I was determined to continue until I won.
I took honors and AP classes in high school. I joined clubs and I even became president of the Future Business Leaders of America club. I strived to do the best, and that's what I was. I was the best. I received awards and attention because I did all the best that I could do. My parents were so proud of me. And when I was invited to NYU for Business school, I quickly accepted it and spent four years of studying.
Finally, when I had graduated in the summer, I felt invincible. I felt powerful and smart. It was like I knew that I finally had control over my life. Because I was so eager and ambitious, I created my own business. I started with borrowing money from banks so I can buy a hotel. Once I was able to pay them back, I gained profit of my own and continued to expand my business. I bought more hotels, casinos, and resorts in five years. I soon became wealthy and capable of buying whatever I wanted.
This all became possible because I enjoyed school, which was why it was time to have Rose go back to school.
I didn't want her to join the previous semester since it was almost over when I had adopted her. I rather preferred her joining the Spring semester and having a fresh start. I believed she wasn't too behind from the learning criteria since my father was actually teaching her some things while he took care of her. It was his idea to buy her books and such so she could take them with her when she would go over to visit him.
I decided that I wanted her to go to a school rather than having her home schooled. I wanted her to be surrounded with children her age; I thought it was best for her. So, I enrolled her in Jackson Academy. It was a private school and I did do my research before I enrolled her.
When I decided that Rose should go to school, I thought about sending her to a regular public school, but I didn't want to risk her safety. Now that she was the daughter of a very wealthy person, she needed to be monitored at all times. It was too risky sending her to a public school; someone could use her as ransom.
So, when January twenty first came, she woke up bright and early with an excited gleam on her face. Her eyes were bright and excited and her mouth was permanently set on a grin.
"Mommy!" She yelled excitedly as she was bouncing down the stairs. "Today is my first day of school!"
I chuckled lightly, delighted that she thought school was going to be great. Not everyone found school appealing, but she did and I was glad.
"Yes, sweetie it is," I agreed with her as I prepared her breakfast.
I wasn't the best cook, and ironically, I owned many successful restaurants and had a father as a chef, but I thought I was good enough to make simple dishes. For example, pancakes were one of them. It was fairly easy to make; of course, though, if you were using Aunt Jemima.
It took me about ten minutes or so to get breakfast ready. We sat around the table, chewing our food happily. When we were done, we quickly cleaned up so we wouldn't be late. I didn't want to leave a wrong impression on her.
She bounced excitedly to the car. Even though her school was a private school and usually private schools preferred uniforms, this school wasn't the case. Instead, her hair was styled in a ponytail with a white bow wrapped around her hair. She was dressed in a faux fur white coat, black leggings, and black boots. I offered carrying her backpack to the car, but she said she wanted to do it all by herself, so her Frozen backpack was nestled on her back.
