"Line up children", came Rylins shrill voice after we had been 'marked' as they called. First they said they would breed us now they brand us. Honestly we're not ANIMALS!!! I follow them then looked at my surroundings and to the left of me was plain buildings that looked like factorys.
Then on my right was a forest. Where I was standing was just grass. On the outside of the forest was signs with cabin numbers they led you to a trail which I'm guessing led to that cabin. The signs went all the way down as far as I could see.
On the paper Rylin gave me,it said my cabin number was 278 we were just passing 229 so it wasn't too far. But we had to stop everytime we approached a sign.
"278", Rylins voice rang out breaking the silence. I shakily walked to the front of the now stopped line.
"That's me", I said so quietly I was worried she couldn't hear me.
"Paper" she said fast. I blinked not understanding. "Your papers dear"
She said impatiently I hurriedly handed her the paper. She confirmed that this was where I was supposed to be. "Remeber the rules" she warned. "And someone will be by to show you where things are"
I guess that was my cue to leave, I began walking down the path wondering where my roommate was.
It had almost an eerie feel to it. There was little to no light because the trees blocked all of it. It made me shiver. I felt like I was in a movie walking towards danger but not stopping myself.
That's when I came to a clearing and flat in the middle was my cabin.I slowly approached not knowing what to expect,as I trudged up the steps and across the porch to the door, I wasn't sure if I should open it there could be killers in there for Christ's sake. I slowly turned the knob and swing the door open.
As I walked in there was very stale smell like nobody had been in here for a while. I took a look through the still opened door before shutting it. It's most likely safer in here than out there. On my left was a small kitchen right above the sink was a window with pink curtains. And there was a circular dining table that only seated four and had a vase with flowers in it.
It reminded me of an old television show where everything was bright and happy.on my right was a floral sofa with two chairs that matched and instead of a t.v a large bookcase was there instead. All the windows had pretty pink curtains.Towards the back of the cabin was a small hallway it had a door on the side and two more all the way back.
The side door led to a bathroom, while the two back ones were separate bedrooms. Realizing there was no one in the house I quickly locked the front door but opened the windows to allow air movement.
As soon as I moved to the front of the living room to open the large window I saw Jesse walking towards the house I quickly jumped out of the way of the window when I heard the knock. I tried to slow my breathing not knowing what to do I recalled Rylins words "He always gets what he wants" my heart lurched as I heard him say "Open up Ahna, I have a key to every cabin and if you don't let me in I will let myself in"
I grabbed the knob and opened the door before I lost my courage.
"What are you doing here" I breathed
He gave me a look like he was hurt
"I'm showing you your things"
He leaned in to my ear and whispered "You could show a little appreciation" I swallowed hard as he side stepped me. He had his back turned away from me as he said " shut the door"
"Let's start with the kitchen shall we" he grabbed my arm and led me to the small area. He started throwing open drawers showing me where the silverware, towels, cleaning supplies, they had almost anything you could think of when he was done with the little house tour. I realized I had no clothes exempt for this thin piece of fabric they called a dress.
So when he said "any questions" I spoke up and said "what about my clothes",
"oh that's right"? he said sarcastically "Although I do enjoy you in that very much" his eyes raked up and down my body
"I'll bring you clothes tomorrow" he winked. He tucked my black hair behind my ear he then trailed his hand down my shoulder before purposefully grabbing very roughly in to the mark he gave me.
I gasped as the tears pricked my eyes
"Aww does that still hurt love?" He asked as he faked sympathy he brushed his lips against my cheek and breathed out "I tried to be gentle, but sometimes I can't control myself" he leaned back and smirked before leaving abruptly.
And this was only day one I started to sob before crying myself to sleep in the middle of the floor.
