I opened my eyes and found myself on the cold wooden floor. First came confusion then the memory of what had happened flooded through my mind.I put my head back down squinting my eyes against the light trying to go back to my dreamless sleep where I didn't have to worry about dying during the day.
As I was in between being awake and being asleep and I had that floaty feeling where I was numb. As I started to drift away I realized something was wrong I needed my medicine it was a shot I had to take once everyday to keep my blood sugar from getting to low. And I realized that. I was falling asleep so peacefully not because I was tired but because I was slipping into unconsciousness.
That's when a loud knock pulled me from the darkness I struggled for consciousness but i wasn't very successful.
"Oh god", I heard someone say I was expecting it to be Jesse, but was surprised when an old lady carried me to the bedroom. I felt the comfy bed below me sink under with my weight.
I felt a sharp pain in my thigh. And I realized she had given me my medicine, within minutes I felt myself wake up. I was still very tired and fatigued because I was without it for so long.
"I'm so sorry dear" the woman said with tears in her eyes, why did she care so much? "My names Deborah but call me Debbie"
"How'd you know I needed my shot?" I croaked
"It's my job to I go around giving kids that need medicine, there medicine I work for cabins 220 to 280 every day"
Then her eyes became desperate
"Please Ahna I'm begging you" she began as the tears slid down her cheeks. "Don't tell Master Jesse, whenever a child is sick because there without their medication, I'm to blame"
Right then the front door burst open. I heard heavy footsteps stomp towards the door. Debbie was now shaking and gasping. I was still pretty much unable to speak. Jesse swung the door open I watched as his eyes took in the seen.
JESSE'S P.O.V
I saw Ahna laying on the bed looking like a ghost. She was so pale and had dark black circles under her eyes. I saw Debbie give her a desperate look.
I saw Ahna struggle to get up to me she was already gasping for breath.
"No" I said motioning for her to sit back down. But she was already staggering over here.
I moved closer so she wouldn't have to go far. She clasped the front of my shirt with her hands. "Please don't hurt her it was my fault" she whispered before collapsing, I grabbed her so she wouldn't fall, and laid her back on the bed.
"I understand from my grandmother, that you were late to all of your cabins today. And it just so happened the the only one hurt was the only one I asked for you to keep safe" I spat.
"Please please" she begged as I dragged her to the living room.
Ahna's. P.O.V
I could here everything that was going on. But I couldn't open my eyes or stand up. First came the shattering of glass then the scream. All I heard was banging and sobbing. I felt so helpless by the time I was able to swing my legs over the edge if the bed it had stopped.
Then Jesse walked back in and sat next to me. I couldn't bring myself to look at him. "Here's some clothes" he murmured and sat a brown bag on the floor.
" roommate " I managed to say.
"Aww yes little Samuel "
" There was an accident but he should arrive sometime today" little? How old is this kid?
"How old" I croaked. "About seven or eight". I felt disgusted they stole a poor seven year old???? I let out an annoyed sigh.
"You have soft spot for children?" He raised an eyebrow. As I rolled my eyes. "He's just a baby" I whispered.
He flashed his notorious smirk, that always irked me. That's when a knock on the door rang out. Before I could attempt to stand up Jesse through me over his shoulder. I mustered all my strength and squirmed as he carried me to the door.
"You know your giving me a very nice view" Jesse chuckled, I stopped immediately . As Jesse set me down the door opened. There stood two giant red men and in between was a shivering little boy with bruises all over him. One man kicked the boy forward and he fell in his knees in front of me.
I felt Jesse put his hands on my shoulders and whisper "congratulations it's a boy" before all three if them swaggered out if the cabin.
