"So there's TWO of the god damn, camps!!"
"Actually there's through three" he said apprehensively.
"WHAT!!!!!!" I screamed, we were sitting in the woods, absolutely nothing was around, save the occasional crow or vulture.
"Who are you?!" I said exasperated. I'd been asking the same question for about two hours now. He refused to tell me, who he was and how he knew about all of this. But he told me all about the Breya. And how this whole thing was run by the government!!
You've got to be kidding, what sick world is this. But by the sounds of it The Breya is much worse, than here. I told him our rules and he told me theirs. I also told him about Jesse.
"I just wanna go home, and forget about all of this maybe this is a nightmare. And I will wake up, and my dad will be normal for once. And i will have that happy traditional family, like on that t.v show The Brady Bunch" I rushed out.
"I want to go home too" Matt sighed "but we have to keep fighting, were survivors" something he said made me almost stop breathing, to hear someone be supportive and say 'I want to go home too' reminds me that I'm not alone. It makes me feel like I have someone to lean on, someone that knows exactly what I'm going through. Jesse never will understand what I go through, because he wasn't taken. When Ashton was a friend to me he wouldn't have understood either.
"Are you okay?" he whispered, I gave him a watery smile, my bottom lip was quivering. "Come here" he said and he held his arms out. I crawled over to him. And snuggled up to his chest. He was so warm and smelled like pine and lemon. He rocked me and stroked my hair.
"I know how you feel, your not alone, I'm here now and were officially a team". He said choked up.
"A team, for what?" I asked looking up at him. He wiped the tears from my cheeks.
"For getting out of here silly" he said. "I never did get your name" he said suddenly looking curious.
"Ahna" I laughed, finally able to regain control over my emotions. You know what I like about this guy? He hasn't once made unwanted physical contact. (Like kissing me) where all the other guys seemed like they couldn't stop touching me. It must be something these crazy tribe men are born with.
"Is Jesse looking for you"Matt asked
"I don't give a damn if he is" I retorted
"Your a little potty mouth, how old are you?" He said chuckling. "How old are you" I said narrowing my eyes.
"I asked you first" his eyes held a mischievous glint. "If I tell you, you have to tell me". He nodded. "I'm thirteen" he started coughing/choking in not sure which one.
" you alright" I raised an eyebrow.
"Thirteen" he said breathlessly "there the first to go at The Breya"
"Ya well I told you about my situation with Jesse" I sighed. " now you"I urged. "You get right to the point don't you, I'm eighteen". "Your old" I laughed. I stood up and started to walk away.
"Where are you going" he said getting up and walking behind me. "Sorry I don't hang out with senior citizens" I teased. He gave me a fake hurt look, "hey I'm not even allowed to drink yet"
I raised my arms around me. "You aren't allowed to drink anyway" I said laughing so hard I was crying.
"Hey don't make fun of little girl" he pointed his finger at me. I just swatted it away and replied "I will do what I want old man" I put emphasis on the old man part. He grinned and put his hand out.
"Team from now on, I protect you and you protect me, deal?" He said.
"Deal" I said while shaking his hand
He then pulled me in for a hug, I had my head on his shoulder, when I heard yelling. Then I heard the sound of something whizzing through the air.
Matt ducked in front of me and I could feel something lodged in my back, something that was clearly meant for Matt. "Ahna, oh my god I didn't mean to" I heard Jesse's frantic voice yell from behind me.
I hope he doesn't kill Matt. That was my last thought before I fell to the ground.
