Marks P.O.V (Ahna's Dad)
"Savannah", I yelled as I picked up the package on our porch. Already knowing what was inside. Savannah was before me in a second. "Yes" she whimpered. "Here" I said handing her the package, she bowed her head and started to walk away. I grabbed her arm before she got very far.
"What do you say?" I growled. Her body shook, "thank you" I released her "that's better" I said in approval. Savannah had always known I was in charge. But sometimes she got out of line and I had to teach her a lesson but one particular time stood out.
It was at least 18 years ago when we had our first child Jesse. He was perfect he had my blonde hair and Savannah's brown eyes. It was only when he was five that I got a call from The Sireth. A place where I had been general of the Redmen from when I was fifteen to twenty-three. I was not only good friends with Rylin but she was also my lover, even though she was quite a bit older than me.
I had to move on though and Rylin let me. That's when I met Savannah and I knew she would be a perfect wife. Someone who would cower at my feet, which is exactly what I wanted. When Jesse was five, Rylin called and was panicked, she had, had her first born. We both knew that she wasn't supposed to be having children. Because she was old and any child she had could be born with Down syndrome, or could suffer from another disease we didn't know of.
But her little girl was perfectly healthy. The only thing was she was a girl. There was a tradition a female ruler than a male ruler to keep it fair and not to favor. Even though we knew your chances of surviving were so much higher if you were a boy. She needed a son or her family wouldn't rule anymore, so we devised a plan. Switch our children so she would have the boy and I the girl. And one day when they were old enough they would marry so Rylin's family would continue ruling.
That made Savannah go crazy it was her first punishment that I ever gave her. And Savannah eventually got close to Ahna, although she hated it when people would say "she doesn't look like either one of you" so it really did devastate her when Ahna was taken.
I knew it was going to happen all along but I needed to put on a show for the police. Because they can never know what the Sireth is, I doubt they could do anything about it if they did. There are over one thousand ridiculously strong armed redmen. But I'm sure the police don't even have a clue why and where these children are.
It's only a matter of time till I start training Buddy. To become what I once was, to have the thrill of your first kill, to become a redmen.
