His Weakness

Ugh I feel like crap, I thought as I tried to wake myself. When I opened my eyes, I almost had a heart attack. When I saw a face so close to mine I could hardly breathe, and it was extremely uncomfortable. His dark eyes studied me intensely. They seemed so cold compared to the warm brown eyes I knew.

"Jesse" I said curiously, what's wrong with him? I felt hurt wash over me. I would be lying if I said I didn't have any feelings for him. I mean I did take care if him so I grew protective pretty quick, he's saved my life multiple times, he takes care of me and likes me the same way I like him.

"Ahna" I could hear the relief in Matt's voice as he placed his hand on my knee.

"Don't touch her, EVER" Jesse whipped around facing Matt. He looked like he grew about four times bigger, even I cringed. The thing Matt did next was so hilarious, I bit my lip to keep from laughing, for some reason I don't think that would be too smart while Jesse's in this mood.

Matt just lifted his hand and gave him the finger. "What the hell are you doing?" Jesse said confused.

Matt raised his eyebrows, and I couldn't help I burst out laughing. Obviously Jesse wasn't accustomed to our crude non tribal manner.

"It means..."Matt began but I cut in

"It means hello" I blurted trying to keep a straight face, Matt finally catching on nodded.

" see try it out " I told him, Matt and Jesse started walking to the door that lead to the hallway. "Heyyyy" I said irritated. Jesse came back and helped me out of the hospital bed. I was in between the boys while both of them supported my weight. When a poor nurse walked by.

"Hey" Jesse said catching her attention, then he flipped her off.

I put my head on Matt's shoulder, I felt him shaking with laughter. "It means hello" Jesse said politely to the confused woman. Then she raised her finger to him, they were both fingering one another and smiling like idiots.

After the nurse left we went back to my room. And I laid back down.

Back before I got stabbed or speared or whatever the hell Jesse threw at me, me and Matt had decided that we would try to get out of here. Now I realize that I want Jesse to come with us too, although I don't even know if he would.

NEXT DAY

Jesse got here before Matt did, and I immediately felt nervous. Jesse looked unhappy and I mean REALLY unhappy.

"What's wrong" I said in a small voice. Jesse laughed but his voice held no humor "You really have no idea" he said sarcastically. I shook my head. He sat in the chair next to me, and leaned towards me.

"I see the way you laugh, when he's around. And I now know that, that 'gesture' means fuck you, you both knew that, even your eyes light up when you see him". He whispered sounding defeated.

"I shouldn't have to reassure you" I laughed this whole situation was nuts " you know your the one that I choose now and forever" I tried to put my hand on his cheek but he pulled away. I frowned. "You've been lying all those kisses were forced, I'm a fool thinking that you liked me"

"That's not true!!! And don't even begin to speak about honesty, because you are NO better than me in that department"

"What are you talking about?"

"Like you don't know about The Breya or The Simoa, or our really fucked up government"

"What are you talking about? The government can't know about us, the police would break us" I could tell he honestly didn't know what I was talking about, so Rylin's been deceiving us all I thought.

"Oh my god you don't know" I whispered, I repeated the whole conversation between me and Matt

I watched his emotions, hurt, angry,confused. Then I took a huge risk, I told him that me and Matt were planning on running away.

"But I wanted to ask you if you would join us, I don't know if I could leave you behind, it's hard enough knowing that all the other people we leave behind still have to suffer. And those are strangers for gods sake"

Jesse stood up and started pacing he ran his fingers through his hair,

" I can't believe everything I believed everything I thought, changed so suddenly" he turned to me fast "I can't leave Ahna, neither can you but Matt can"

"Why not" I demanded. He sighed

"Because we have trackers, they don't tell us where you are unless your close to the border or on the border"

"I don't have one" I said confused.

"Yes you do when you were knocked out on your first trip here, a tracker was placed in your calf, I only found where you were when Ashton took you because you were so close to the border, I have one also. But Matt doesn't have one that tracks him here because he wasn't admitted here"

Matt then walked in its about frickin time. "Jesse's right I don't have one at the The Breya we don't have trackers just guards surrounding every inch of the border."

"How do they choose where to admit you to" I asked Matt knowing that Jesse wouldn't know.

"It goes by your physical features, lighter people, like light hair,skin,and eyes would be in The Breya, while darker people, like people with brown hair tan skin brown eyes, would be in the Sireth. And red hair, green eyes and paler skin, the Simoa."

"How do you know all of this" Jesse asked, but before Matt could answer, The door flew open.

"Jesse you have approximately two hours to get ready" said a nurse before she left.

"Shit" Jesse said. "What?" I asked

"The ceremony welcoming the new children starts in two hours and your going so get ready"

WHAT, I think my mind just exploded, it's already been six months.
