Flashback
I ran back to the park with my dad while my mom called the police, when we arrived my heart dropped at what I saw or more like what I didn't see.
The van was completely gone the only evidence that it had been there was a large pool of oil.
"Oh my god", my dads voice was very chilling in the abandoned park. His words seemed to hang in the air. He clutched at his chest as his breathing became rapid. I heard sirens in the distance.
My mom arrived panting she knew instantly that Ahna wasn't there, her breathing stopped altogether as she sunk to her knees.
"No, no,no my baby" she screeched her words rang in my ear. Three police cars pulled up and stopped they talked in hushed tones before approaching my dad.
We rode to the police station in one car while the other two searched the surrounding area. They told my parents that there were mass abductions every six months. And that it had been going on for at least 10 years now. And we aren't going to tell the public because it would cause panic.
"But people need to be aware these are our CHILDREN" my mothers voice replied viciously.
"Mam you have to understand that we will do everything in our power to get your daughter back, all the police stations within 200 miles have been notified". He began
"Save the speech because I know how this goes, they look for a month, drop the case and we never see her again I can't no, I WON'T accept that" my mother huffed.
" Go get some rest "he said "I promise to do everything in my power to help"
Throughout my mother and the police officers arguments about leaving, my dad stayed silent he was ringing his hands. Where's the strong dad I knew? The one who could handle everything? He was breaking and I could see it.
End of flashback
My parents had been fighting, weren't tragic accidents supposed to bring us together? My parents seemed hollowed, nothing was there. Even my mothers recent spark about finding her had died down, then out.
I'd been making my own meals and staying in my room. I had to pull myself together at the age of eight.
But then a flicker of hope came or I should say was delivered in a package.
My mom tore through it a letter on top read.

In the video it showed Ahna screaming in a corner it looked like she couldn't breathe. -then it went black- another clip of her appeared saying I won't remember any people that were involved in my old life-black- then a strange image came up a man was kissing her ear and Ahna was gasping in pleasure?!- then it said Ahna Everly Leighton in fancy script.
My mother was in tears and my father looked furious and once again I reminded myself its all my fault.
