As Sean lay silent and motionless in the stark white hospital bed surrounded by Rose and her mystifying presence; she bemoaned his outcast state. Damned to a hospital bed with god knows what kind of injuries. It was around half past four in the morning when Sean finally awoke to find his world dark. Probably because his eyes were still closed, but he didn't plan on opening them anyway. He lay there, eyes closed. He could feel the scratchy dry gauze strewn about his head. He could feel his head throbbing with pain. A small pricking feeling in his arm, undoubtedly an IV. He finally opened his eyes and winced slightly from the burning sensation from the light flooding into his vision. This soft sound was enough to cause Rose to jump towards the bed in a hurricane of tears. She clutched the sheets surrounding Sean, sobbing into his chest. Frantically trying to explain everything while still crying. She was finally halted by Sean placing his arm around her and pulling her close to him. They soon separated and Rose returned to her chair. "So how's Rosie?" Sean asked groggily. "I'm fine Sean. You on the other hand look like hammered shit, Seanie." "Am I a pretty piece of shit?" Sean asked laughingly. "Yes Sean, you are." Rose said chuckling. "Damn! I really fucked up tonight huh?" Sean said while sitting up in bed looking at Rose. "Aaron hit you as you turned away, he landed a few more before Jamie could stop him." "Where's Aaron now?" Sean asked. "Three doors down from this room. Jamie nearly killed him." "Well that asshat deserves it. What about Caroline, where is she?" "She went home Seanie. She wouldn't even come to see you after all this shit." Rose said with a hint of bitterness. "Oh well, fuck it. I've got bigger problems. One of them is this." Sean said pointing towards his head. "Yeah the doctor said you've got a nasty concussion. They'll be keeping you for a few days." Rose said. "You should go home Rosie Rose. Get some rest. I'll be here tomorrow." "Nice try Sean Casey. You won't get rid of me that easily. I'm staying till you get discharged. Your parents came by earlier by the way. They said they were proud of you for standing up the way you did." "What about you Rose? Were you impressed by my rippling manliness?" Sean said sarcastically. "Yes Seanie... But look where it got you, a hospital bed." Rose chidingly said. "Don't worry about me red light Rosie, I'll be just fine. Give me a week, two at the most, I'll be back, fighting fit." Sean muttered through his drug fueled haze. "Whatever loser." Rose said slumping into her chair. Sean finally had the silence he needed to think. Think about whatever the hell concussion victims think about. Sean's phone then rang through his jeans and disturbed his thought solace. One thing the hospital staff hadn't done, was put Sean in one of those ridiculous robes. So he was still fully dressed, much to his thankfulness, what with Rose being there. He answered his phone cheekily saying, "Middleton county NC, where the introverts stare their shoes and the extroverts stare at yours, how may I help you?" "Still sarcastic after getting a concussion eh Sean? Damnit your persistent if nothing at all." Caroline said kiddingly. "How ya doing Cari? You alright?" Sean asked worriedly. "Oh ya know, pretty fuckin' great. Just got hit by my boyfriend in a drunken rage and was basically kidnapped before being bereft of my assailant by a gigantic tree of a man and Sean Casey. I'm doing great Sean." Rose said sarcastically. "Hey me and that tree did an okay job the way I see it. But seriously, how are you?" Sean said. " I'm good, I guess, Sean." "I'd like to see you after I get out of here. Would ... would that be cool with you?" Sean asked nervously. I think I'd like that quite a lot Sean. " Caroline said cheerily. "Hey I gotta go go, doctor's coming to check on me, talk to you later Cari." "Bye Sean, love you." "I love you too." Sean said without hesitation before realizing what just happened.
