The Adventure Continues

Training

I was all ready. I was suited up in all of my gear. We were going Dragon Hunting. I walked downstairs with Fluff. Of course he was coming with me. Nova sat on my shoulder, ready to travel once more.

I walked downstairs to see everyone ready to go. Shadow walked up to me with some strange gear.

She handed it to me.''You'll need this, since you can't fly.''

''What is it?'' I asked as she helped tighten all of the buckles and straps.

''It's gear that is mainly used for climbing mountains in a hurry, or very skilled hunting. It hooks onto any surface with these hooks and wires. The stuff in the back is a bit more complicated. It helps you soar in the air to meet up with the hooks. It only has a limited supply of air though, so be careful. I'll teach you how to work it in the yard.''

We all walked out to the training grounds. There were lots of tall trees that touched the sky.

Shadow got herself strapped into some of the gear.''To activate the hooks, just point at the place you want them to stick and lean back. You need to have good balance for this part.'' She did just what she said, and hooked onto a tree, but stayed on the ground. ''Now you try.''

I did just what she asked and hooked them onto a tree right next to her's.

''Good! Now just slide your feet forward and lean back. This causes the wire to unlock and to bring you to the hooks. It uses the gas on it's own. To slow it down, just don't lean as far back.''

And again she did what she instructed.

I did the same.

''You're getting the hang of it! The wires connected to the things on your wrist are what captures the dragon. You have to have it hook onto the dragon. Don't worry, it doesn't hook into it's skin. You just have to move it in a certain direction to get it to hook around the dragon. Watch carefully.''

There was a fake dragon not far off. She released to hook and moved her wrist so the wire hooked around the dragon's neck, just like she said. She then used the other wires to hook into it's back. It wouldn't hurt the actual dragon because they have thick scales. She used the gear to get onto the dragon's back.

''Your turn!''

I did just what she did. It was kind of hard to move the wrist wires, but once I figured it out, I got the hang of it. I successfully hooked around the dragon'd neck and got onto it's back.

''By now the dragon would try to wrap around and eat you. You need to get onto the part where the dragon's neck and back meet and hold on for dear life. After a while it will give up and accept defeat. This will make it easier to get to the nest. You can only take one egg. If there is another parent dragon, you have to defeat them too. Some dragons will still attack you after you defeat them, so be careful.''

''Anything else I need to know?'' I asked, resetting my gear and hopping to the ground.

''Just what breed of dragon you want.'' She reached into her bag and took out a book.''This book had all of the different dragon breeds. Some of them will be very hard to catch, and will be very deadly, so choose wisely, but don't let that stop you from choosing the dragon you want.'' She started towards the house. ''Let's get inside. We leave first thing tomorrow!''

I followed her and the others back to the house. Fluff followed me into the kitchen. I got some food, went back to my room, and started flipping through the pages of the book. I only had tonight to decide, and I still had a lot of breeds to look at.
