I woke up to the sound of wind hitting against my window. I looked at the clock.
3:17 am.
Great. 3 hours until sunrise. How was I supposed to sleep in this wind?
I sat on my bed, lit a candle, and opened one of Shadow's books.
I read for about 10 minutes. I still couldn't sleep.
I continued reading. My ears focused on the silence around me. Everyone was asleep in the castle. I was the only one up. Strange. I could also hear the soft pats of the rain on the window.
Something was off. I don't know what could be going wrong at 3:00 in the morning. I hope Billy isn't back to try again.
I heard my stomach growling. I didn't want to wait for morning so I got up and went downstairs.
I ended up fixing a bowl of cereal. On my way to the stairs, I heard knocking. I set my food down and went to the frond door.
Lightning flashed.
I opened the door to see a tall, cloaked, figure standing in the door way. They were soaking from the rain. I could see no trace of their face. I also saw a big, black and grey blade that was enchanted. It had sort of a purple glow to it. I knew littler about magic, but I could still tell what magic it was. Dark.
Dark magic usually is one of the colors, but with a creepy black glow to it. There was no mistaking it.
''Yes?'' I asked with fear in my voice.
''I have come to deliver a message for you, Amber. I have an offering from my master.''
He had a very dark voice. He looked pretty tough. I didn't really want to see who hired him.
''Go on.''
''Thank you. My master wants to make a deal with you. He's offering something that is very close to your heart. Passage to the other world, the one you came from.''
I paused.''What's the catch?''
''Just do what he asks of you, and he will give you passage to your world. That is all he said. If you want to know more, you have to meet him in the realm of Snow and Blizzard. At the Shimmer Mist cave to the east of the capital. That is all.''
After that, he walked down the steps and disappeared into the darkness of the stormy night.
I closed the door and picked up my food.''That was spooky!'' I whispered to myself.
''Who was that?'' Jeffrey asked from behind me.
I turned around.''Where did you come from?''
''I was standing by the counter when I heard you talking to someone.''
I paused.''Stalker!''
He gave me an annoyed look.''What are you even doing up this late?''
''What are you doing up this late?''
''I asked you first.'' he replied in a girly girl voice.
''Well, I asked you second.'' I replied in the same voice, acting like a girly teen.
He didn't reply.
''Well?'' I asked him.
He paused. ''Shadow sent Saphire after me in my sleep.'' he mumbled.
''Ha!''
''Just go to bed,'' he whispered as he passed me going up the stairs.
I did as I was told. I sat in my bed with my book, eating my food.
After about 5 chapters, I went to bed.
