KeithRW is an author that I recently discovered and wish I would have found earlier! His book, Assassin, is updated on Wednesdays and Fridays, and he has two other books: a book for undiscovered fantasy stories, and a completed book called Beyond The Portal. With Assassin reaching quite high on the adventure charts, (#157) you should definitely check it out. Like, right now. Leave, read the first chapter or so, then come back.

Without further ado, here it is.

The interview:

KeithRW, what made you join Wattpad?

It began while I was reading a book (traditionally published book) a couple of years ago, and found that the story often didn't go where I was hoping it would. It started to make me think of trying to write a novel myself, and then I could have control of it.

I already had an idea for a plot but needed somewhere to publish it so that I could learn and gain some feedback since I was a complete novice. I searched around and found Wattpad, and what appealed to me was how interactive it was. So I joined and began posting my first story 'Beyond the Portal'.

Who do you thank most here on Wattpad, for helping you?

Difficult question. I guess there are three that spring to mind. Firstly, JessicaBFry as she edited several of my very first chapters of my first story, so right back when I was first trying. She was very thorough and helped me enormously.

Secondly would be 2writer for continuing to support my stories and helping my books get noticed.

Thirdly, TaranMatharu who has now gone on to get a traditional publishing deal. I spoke with him via PM on various topics and he offered some great advice on how to succeed. He also provided me with the artist who made the book covers to both of my books here on Wattpad.

But I also have to mention my readers, and particularly those who leave constructive comments because they really do help me to improve.

What is your favourite book on Wattpad (Other than your own)?

I would have to say Summoner by TaranMatharu, which is very similar to the style of fantasy that I tend to like. Honourable mentions to Paladin by SallySlater, and The Path of Fire by rmcneary.

What is your favourite of your own books?

I would have to say Assassin. It's much more driven by the characters, and I prefer that. My first book Beyond the Portal was driven by the plot and I felt I ended up shoe-horning the characters in. I planned Assassin much more and I think the end result was better. Beyond the Portal was as much an exercise in learning than anything else for me.

Do you have any ideas for a next novel? And, if so, can you give us a sneak peek?

Indeed I do. It's in the early planning stage but involves several kingdoms, numerous characters, Dragons, magic, political intrigue and demons that appear only at night from another dimension!

Last, but not least, who is your idol, as an author?

I'd have to say George R R Martin. His A Song of Ice and Fire series is superb, and it's the characters and depth to the characters that impresses me. I aspire to create characters that are as interesting as those he has created.
