DominicDimech is an awesome user here on Wattpad. His book, The Blood Of Mortal Men, (the first part; Dominic is splitting it up) is FEATURED on Wattpad currently. To help support this dedicated, on-the-rise author, I recommend you go read the book and then come back. :)
The Interview:
DominicDimech, what made you join Wattpad?
To be honest, I didn't even know wattpad existed until the end of last year. I was on my sister's iPad and saw the app, she had been using it to read fan-fiction. I did a bit of research, (having my book three quarters written at this point) and saw how joining could be such a great opportunity in the ways of feedback and making a few writing friends.
Who do you thank most here on Wattpad, for helping you?
I'd have to say @EinatSegal. She showed me the ropes, gave me a few tips on the dos and don'ts and was one of the first people who gave me feedback on my book and she's been helpful ever since!
What is your favourite book on Wattpad (Other than your own)?
I'd have to say @AlecHuston's The Crimson Queen. It's an absolute joy to read. I'd been looking for something to truly get lost in after I finished Martin's A Dance with Dragons and I couldn't find anything that captured me until I read the prologue of The Crimson Queen. The writing is beautiful, the story is engaging and the characters feel real.
What is your favourite of your own books?
Well, The Blood of Mortal Men is the first book I've ever attempted at writing, I have had the idea for 12 years now, and it is the first book in a series of 7 that I plan to write. So I'm going to have to say that one is my favourite for now, but I know book two will certain amp things up a lot when I get around to it.
Do you have any ideas for a next novel? And, if so, can you give us a sneak peek?
For a next novel, I have ideas bleeding from my brain to the point where I have to write them down. My next novel will take off write after the The Blood of Mortal Men, it will be called Whispers of a Dragon. Whilst I haven't started that just yet, I can give you a sneak peak of The Blood of Mortal Men: Part 2 (as I am releasing it in two parts):
"Archie rubbed his temples as he noticed the distant fires Leo had pointed out starting to spread. Rain and lead showered down upon the Soot Soldiers as he barked out orders. He eyed Wright as the man veered towards the truck running over his own dead causing their bodies to open and bust like large tubes of steaming red toothpaste. Archie raised his scope to his cheek and peered through. The bald halfwit was conversing with the drivers in the truck. Are they pointing to the Supermarket? This was his chance. Archie held his breath, steadied his aim as the crosshairs glided over Edgar Melvin Wright's bald head. Left to right. Right to left. He fingered the trigger, started to squeeze when something in the truck caught his eye. He shifted the sight across. The old man's got an RPG? He watched as the crippled soldier struggled to hold the launcher out of the window. He could hear his pulse.
B-doom, b-doom, b-doom... Archie squeezed the trigger hard and he fired...
Nothing? Maybe his gun jammed, maybe it was the water or maybe it wasn't even loaded. It didn't matter now. He lowered it peacefully, looked at Carlton, then Leo and then he smiled. Well, at least Vicky will be safe. Then before he knew it the ground beneath his feet was falling away and he was being buried by dust and rubble.
Last, but not least, who is your idol, as an author?
G. R. R. Martin definitely. Reading his work made me start my own. He is without a doubt my greatest inspiration
