@Sam_McGregor is the author of the popular Wattpad book, Darkness Girl: Trickster God. I haven't read it yet, but that is only because I have been too busy with my own books. But I will read it soon! I recently asked him if I could interview him, and he said yes! But anyway, help him stay on top by reading his story now!

What made you join Wattpad?

Before I joined Wattpad, I was trying to write serious literary stories for serious literary people with serious literary faces. The kind of stories that have realistic characters and multiple layers of meaning. However, it turns out that writing those kind of stories is no fun at all (who would have thought :P). Every page I managed to turn out was a struggle, and I was agonising over every word and sentence. One day, I decided to put it aside for a little bit and have some fun writing a story about a blue haired assassin...

Who do you thank most here on Wattpad, for helping you?

That's a dangerous question to ask. Wattpad is such a collective effort that the list of people I need to thank could easily run to multiple pages. I'll try to cut it down to some of the people who've been around from the start, but I'm really not doing everybody justice. @AuntyHeart and@MJLevitt have given me fearless advice. @unbrokenworld and@HeartsAndArrows have been amazingly supportive fellow writers. @MeritFellows@CalebxBourque@CorineTemper and@AmberStarling have been there whenever a new update comes out (and to catch me if I'm falling behind). @emilytubb@BlindFindings and@Crazyxox have motivated me to write by having some to the craziest comments I've ever read. @sennalily taught me how to be a successful writer online. @JackHeath and taught me how to be a successful writer offline. @TaranMatharu taught me to mix those two together into some kind of book-alchemy.

What is your favourite book on Wattpad (Other than your own)?

I've loved a bunch of books on Wattpad, but one of my favourites still has to be Danger(us) by MJLevitt. I still get goosebumps when I read the ominous first line: 'I have a mask. It sits on my bookshelf and stares at me and I'm not allowed to touch it.' Some others are How to Make Life by AuntyHeart and Philomena by sennalily.

What is your favourite of your own books?

Darkness Girl is my only book on Wattpad, so I guess it's my favourite by default, but I think it would be my favourite even if that wasn't the case. I've had a lot of fun writing it. Even amongst all my unpublished stuff, it comes out on top.

Do you have any ideas for a next novel? And, if so, can you give us a sneak peek?

I'd like to see Regan come up against a truly terrifying villain. The type that has the capacity to shatter her world and really push her out of her comfort zone. Just for fun, I'd also love to do a spin-off crossover with Jack Heath where Regan is sent to space and ends up fighting characters from other books (including Agent Six of Hearts from Jack's book series). I don't know why, but I really want her to meet Katniss Everdeen.

Last, but not least, who is your idol, as an author?

Once again, there are a lot of authors on that list, but my idol has to be Raymond Chandler. He was the god of hardboiled detective fiction, and he still has some of the best descriptions I've ever read. Check it out: 'He had a battered face that looked as if it had been hit by everything but the bucket of a dragline. It was scarred, flattened, thickened, checkered, and welted. It was a face that had nothing to fear. Everything had been done to it that anybody could think of.'
