The first interviewee for the return of Wattpad's Finest is no_kidding, an author on Wattpad, whose book, Inside The Beast's Castle, is currently #1 in Fantasy, and who also has another book in the top 100 in Fantasy. They have over 67 thousand followers on Wattpad. They are clearly very accomplished and have worked hard to get where they are. Therefore, I thought they deserved an interview!
The interview:
no_kidding, what made you join Wattpad?
Oh goodness. What made me join wattpad was me looking for books. I'm a fairytale nut (in case it's not obvious, lol) and I was looking for a retelling of one of my favorite fairytales. I had just watched Tangled for the third time, I think, and had this death scene in my head that I really wanted to read, or find something close to (as morbid as that sounds.) I went combing through online for days on end and found a few books that were retellings of the story I wanted that looked interesting.
Not one of them was what I was really looking for.
So I started to get aggravated. I then started looking up ANYTHING that could be what I wanted. Somewhere in there I found a website called Deviantart, then came across a challenge called "Twist Fate." It was taking original fairytales and making the protagonist the antagonist, and I immediately got an idea.
Soon, I found that they had partnered with a website called Wattpad. I looked up the site, found out that it was an app, and realized that there were free books.
Free books.
What could be better?
So, I researched it some more, and it didn't LOOK like a hoax or anything. I eventually realized that I could look up the retelling I was wanting and read it.
For free.
("Free" may have been a deciding factor in me joining.)
And that's the overly-complicated story!
Who do you thank most here on Wattpad, for helping you?
Oh boy. Lot's and lots of people!
Well, first there's @cleverwren, then there's @wisteriaflower and @mystique_ballerina, and @GreggTheGrimReaper. Then all the people who have followed and/or reds my works.
I have TONS of people to thank for helping me out. :)
What is your favourite book on Wattpad (Other than your own)?
Hmm, that's a hard one! I have more than one favorite.
There's "Rose, Wilted" and "Cloak, Torn" by @danikanakker, "Beyond the Tower" by @wisteriaflower, and "Crescendo Skies" by @mystique_ballerina.
What is your favourite of your own books?
Gahhh...
I don't really know if I have a favorite. I like them all equally, I think!
Then again, the one I'm most proud of is "Inside the Beast's Castle." It's the first ever full-length thing I've finished, and honestly, I'm surprised I managed to spit that many words onto a computer screen. So, I guess I'll take my previous "no favorite"statement back. I think that one wins for now. :)
Do you have any ideas for a next novel? And, if so, can you give us a sneak peek?
Ooo boy. That was the WRONG question to ask me. I have PLENTY of ideas.
All of 'em crowding up my brain.
Since I can only write one story at a time, I've had to put all my ideas in a line. The one I'm planning on writing next is a mystery/thriller novel called "The Murders of the Twelve." I have the first two chapters (well, technically the prologue and first chapter) up on my profile.
It's about a girl named Lily who becomes a police officer. She moves from this small town to a big city and basically has to learn what it's like there.
(Awesome summary, right? *eye roll*)
Now, since I'm a fairytale nut, the
certain mystery in this is inspired by "The Twelve Dancing Princesses."
I could launch into the whole story right now, but I'll just leave it at "I got this idea from watching Zootopia." That should tell you a little bit more than I can sanely explain.
I'm really hoping that it'll become a trilogy, but I need to see how well the first book comes to me. It's set in a modern-day type world, and not the fantasy-magic-evil creature place I'm used to. *crosses fingers for luck*
Last, but not least, who is your idol, as an author?
Uh.
You know, I've never thought about it?
Um, Veronica Roth ("Divergent" series, J.K.Rowling ("Harry Potter"), Bram Stoker ("Dracula"), and Alexa Steele ("The Forgotten Girls") all write some of my favorite books. I guess that they would have to be my idols, writing-wise.
Thanks to no_kidding for participating in this interview!
