One Year Later

Harold's POV

I leapt back, narrowly avoiding the tendril of pure darkness that would've crushed me.

"Dammit Clyde! Get off your ass and get moving!" I shouted, frustrated with his lack of action. I lashed out with my sword, and glanced over at him. "What are you even doing?"

Clyde looked up at me slowly, his sword swinging lazily in his hand.

"...I'm standing. Like a normal person."

I let out a frustrated breath, and in the process got the wind knocked out of me by a giant black tentacle.

I sat up from where I was, just in time to stab at the incoming black tentacle, which would have most likely either thrown me half across the universe or turned me into a Harold-ka-bob. I scrambled to my feet, my sword in hand as the communicator in my ear crackled to life.

"Look alive, Clyde! You f--"

"Melissa."

"Right, sorry Kronos. You two need to take this guy out, and fast. His core is messing with the timeline."

I huffed, annoyed. I knew all of this, hell, we both did. Melissa just loved to point out this stuff when we were on a time limit, to rush them. I hate being rushed.

"I'm not an idiot, miss." I said, clicking my communicator to life, then muttered "Clyde, on the other hand..."

"Harold, don't be rude about your teammates, we've talked about this." Kronos said sternly.

"But he's just--"

"I know. Handle this, and we'll handle him."

"You always say that. It seems like he just gets lazier and lazier!"

"Harold." Melissa and Kronos said in almost perfect unison, Melissa finishing the statement with "Handle. This."

Internally, I was screaming. Externally, I just sighed.

"Yes ma'am." I said in defeat. I clicked my mic off, and prepared myself to fight.

Melissa had told me multiple times to not, under any circumstances, use dimensional, well, anything. She said that the magic could consume me, destroy my being, tear me apart and scatter me across the dimensions, etc etc.

Although, on the other hand, she did say that I was allowed to use dimensional magic in certain situations. I assume that Clyde being lazy in a dangerous situation is often one of times, so I have a fairly good understanding of what I can do without her noticing.

I mumble a small "Agilias" under my breath, and I can feel myself becoming lighter. I jump up a bit, and find that I'm practically soaring up into the air. I position my sword so that it's pointing downward, and force myself down from my jump, aiming for the center of the giant black mass of shadow and tentacles.

'Let's hope this thing gets close enough to Clyde to get his lazy ass moving.'

Clyde's POV

I'm tired. I thought to myself as I stood facing the monster. Harold screaming at me wasn't helping, at all.

"Clyde move. YOUR. LAZY. ASS. This thing is heading right for you!" He screamed.

The combination of darkness,....blob and tentacles charged in my direction. WOW thanks Harold. I quickly took a step towards the right dodging its sharpen tentacles before it ram into my flesh.

"About time. " Harold mumbled.

"Har-" A static noise in my ear stopped me from continuing. Tapping lightly on my communicator a very familiar voice came on just seconds later.

"Clyde. You've got to fight! If you don't, this thing will continue to mess with the timeline and wreck the entire dimension. " Melissa instructed me.

Heaving out a sigh I answered her, "Alright. I'll do it."

"Yeah. You sound incredibly convincing! Look, if you don't fight right now you're just prolonging your time with Harold unless you're perfectly fine with that I'm not stepping in."

Melissa's words slightly annoyed me, but with no other choice I simply said 'yes' and the communicator grew quiet.

Glancing at Harold, he was still drawing the monster's attention. Looking at me he gave me a sign of 'Don't just stand there!'

"Harold, buy me some time I'll try to locate the core."

His expression wasn't exactly satisfying but he still followed along to my plan regardless.

As Harold attacked I carefully remembered the 'blob's' abilities and fighting sequence.

Physical attacks isn't very effective. Regeneration rate is about 1.2 seconds for each attack but may vary. However....

"Harold, it's core is at the center! Drive your sword about 7.9 inches deeper and you'll hit the center!" I shouted to him."

Nodding as a sign he understood he quickly charged at the creature. Rushing towards the 'black blob' I drew out my blades and immediately attacked from its back and alternating my attacks to hit the center. Within seconds Harold's sword and my blades clashed against each other as we slashed into the creature's core.

Letting out an intense scream the creature suddenly faded into dark mist, and spread out until the air was clear and light. Redrawing our blades we went back to the silence that we enjoyed between each other.
