I sighed as I got up from my seat on the park bench. Closing the book I was currently reading, after bookmarking the page I was on. Two and a half more chapters till my happiness was complete, and I would have to go hunting for a new book to call the love of my life-or frequently known as my life. Putting it in my bag neatly, I tightened my coat as the wind blew, and left the park.

Walking back to my house, bundled up in my coat as winter made itself announced. I just so happened to be coming from the park, where I sit and read just about anything I want. Today's topic happened to be a book called: Devil in Disguise. Where a seemingly handsome guy decided to be the Devil's form in the world, causing trouble where he walked. Sighing to myself, and trying to decide which book I should read next from the authors collection in my mind. I drew up a blank, and settled on deciding when I absolutely had to make a choice. Patting my pockets, I tried remembering where I put the book in the first place. Then I remembered placing it in my bag before I walked out the park area.

Having to check to make sure the book was placed in my bag, and there it was all safe and sound. I started humming to a tune, without a name present, in my mind. Seeing my house coming into my view, I quickened my pace to hurry into the warm palace that was my home. Thirty steps away, I imagined my key in hand. Having the gold tinted key in hand, as soon as I thought of what it would look like placed directly in my hand.

Going to unlock my door, I noticed the key was not in my hand but placed in the keyhole already. Turning it with curiosity, it opened the door to my house like it normally would. Taking it out, and cautiously walked to my room in full alert. Nothing was out of place, everything exactly like it was supposed to be.

I stepped out of my coat and warm boots, quickly checking the rest of the house to see it was exactly like my room. Perfectly how I left it before, going to my usual places outside my home. Easing my anxious mind with reassuring thoughts, I walked back up to my room. That's when things took a turn for the worst.

A woman a little older than me was sitting on my couch in the corner of my room. She turned toward me and smiled, waving me over. I stood where I was, making no movement towards her.

"Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house?" I asked.

"I am Melissa, and you are Hayden Calloway, correct?" She responded, glancing at a small notebook in her lap.

"Just Hayden will do." I said.

"I want you on my team of dimension jumpers. I want you to help me, but the only way you can do that is by joining." Melissa shouted, getting straight to the point.

"Dimension- what?" I asked.

"Dimension Jumpers-D.J. for short if you like- it's people who jump through dimensions. It's pretty self-explanatory." She answered.

"Why would I want to be a dimension jumper?" I questioned.

"To be something you won't hate! Your parents are both dead, you are living in the past as if they were still here. You hate your life, matter-of-fact you hate living. You swallow yourself up in self-misery, hoping for one goddamn second life would return as it once was! This is your chance, to get away from all of this so why won't you take it." Melissa snapped, already losing her patience with me.

"I don't need you to tell me something I already know. I don't need a crazy person to tell me my life sucks. I don't need Melissa to try and solve all my problems. This is my life, my choices, my mistakes. So why don't you stay out of my business!" I replied coldly.

We had a mini staring contest, before I turned and fled the room, only to have Melissa follow me to the kitchen. I made a cup of hot chocolate and sat down at the island, and to my dismay Melissa was right beside me.

As soon as she sat, I just got right up and walked out the room, groaning as I heard her still following me. So I walked a little faster in hope of beating her to my room.

"Listen to me!" Melissa screamed at me.

"Why the hell would I listen to someone who isn't making any sense?" I asked.

"I need you to agree for this to work." She answered.

"Don't you get it? I love my life as it is now, I don't need your help!" I screamed, slamming my room door in her face.

She just opened the door and looked me directly in the eyes. I could tell she was getting more and more frustrated with me as the seconds ticked by, but what choice does she have? She needs me, not the other around.

"We both know your life right now sucks. You have no family but your aunt, who doesn't even love you. Friends, who don't care about you. And a life, you don't even want." Melissa explained, trying to remain calm.

"Your point is." I snapped.

"You want a life you care about? Join me. Travel the world, seeing places you haven't ever seen but read about? Follow me. Something that you will actually love? It's all one step away, but right now that's step is leaving. Now or never." Melissa told me.

Now or never? She may be right about a couple things but what makes her think I want this, to become a dimension jumper like she? Yeah, it might already be self-explanatory but I want to know more, in better detail then she was giving me. Going through the pros and cons in my head really quick, I turned around to look at her. My decision made. My last thoughts final. Opening my mouth, I said the five words that made her smirk. "Okay, I'll go with you."

"Welcome aboard, then." She responded that smirk still present on her face.
