Chapter 16 - Feast for the Newfound Reason
"Hey, Jade. Wake up," I hear Chesca say and then she gives me a gentle shake. I ignore her and try to chase my sleep again. I have managed to get an hour or so of sleep and I am not ready to give up what I started just yet. I guess my imagination finally realized I'd die if it will keep on smacking me with bizzare dreams.
"She doesn't want," Chesca tells someone. I hear footsteps nearing my bed.
"You sleepyhead, get up. We're already late," Gale sermons me and gives me a shake, much harder than how Chesca shook me. I open one eye and glared at him. I close it right back up after I'm sure I conveyed my message clearly.
"Go without me," I grumble as I reposition myself. I don't even know where we are supposed to go, much more want to go there. I need all the sleep I can get. Maybe this will be the only night I'll be able to sleep peacefully.
"It's a gathering made for us. We have to be there at 8. It's 7:50 already. Attendance, especially ours, is a must. Get. Up. Now," I hear Jay say. When I didn't react, I felt the blanket covering me being snatched from my body and a pillow being thrown at my face.
"Argh!" I literally growled, abruptly sitting up. My action made me remember the saying 'Annoy the drunk but not the sleepy punk.'
"Fix yourself, you've only got eight minutes left," Jay tells me, apprently unfazed by my growling. He knows me so well to not expect anything violent from me.
Yes, It's good to have someone to know you well but sometimes, for example times like this, having someone know you that well is really annoying.
Since I'm already disturbed and pissed as hell, I get up, get the clothes at the corner of my bed and drag my feet to the small comfort room across the room. I don't know where the clothes came, but the fact that it is in the corner of the bed where I slept must mean that it's meant for me.
I pass a couple of made beds and realize as I walk that I'm the only person not ready for the gathering yet.
I open the door to the comfort room and was wrenched back to reality from my half-asleep trance by the naked body before me.
Julia looks at me then smiles. "You can come in, but please hurry and close the door. I am aware of the men outside." I am so shocked I followed what she said numbly. How can she keep her cool like that? And why the devil is the door unlocked in the first place?
"I-I'm s-sorry, I'll go back after you're done," I stutter and then starts to open the door again.
She chuckles and then stops me "We are both ladies, I see no wrong. However, if you feel that uncomfortable, then do as you please," she says then continues "I'm almost done anyway," She fished her clothes and then starts to put them in.
"Um," I start but found no words to utter. she acted so mature, so regal and graceful and calm I'm speechless. If it were me, I am sure I have pounced the intruder to death.
Slipping her cream belt to her waist, Julia walkes near me. "This room is all yours now," she says then smiles kindly at me. Just like that, like I did not just see her body.
Before she walks past me I ask shyly "Why is the door unlocked?"
"It was locked. But somehow, you managed to force the door to unlock," she replies matter-of-factly. I stare at her and then onto the knob I still clutch and then back to her. I can clearly see that she is telling the truth.
She waves then went out. I nod, a horribly late reaction.
"Jade! Hurry up!" Gale yells. I blink a few times and forced the situation at the back of my head. I strip and step in the shower and take a very quick bath.
