Chapter 2 | The Progress

My alarm clock woke me up the next morning, seriously who wakes up at 6 o'clock during summer? Oh yeah me and everyone else who works. Shutting off my alarm I got up and stretched. Getting out of bed I went into the laundry room to get my work uniform.

My uniform isn't the most flattering, but it's comfortable that's what matters the most. For the summer I have black knee length shorts, black button up t-shirt, and a white apron. In the winter it's basically the same except the pants and sleeves are longer.

Putting my uniform on the counter, I striped down and jumped in the shower. After my shower I dried off and put my uniform, I went to my room to blow dry my hair. I decided to just leave my hair natural since it will be raining, I don't need to be wasting my time.

Making my way downstairs, I noticed my mother making breakfast for my family.

"Yes! Pancakes thanks, Mom!" I exclaimed

"Eat up, you have work soon, Pumpkin."

After my pancakes I went back upstairs to grab my phone, purse and headphones, I might have time during break to listen to music.

After saying goodbye to my mom, since Brooke was still asleep, I started walking to work. It's really no surprise to me that I was the first one here. I opened the door, turned on the lights and flipped the sign making my way to the back to set up for the day.

I heard the bell ring for the door right when I put the cookies in the oven. Looking up I realized that it was Logan.

"Hey Logan, what would you like?" I asked while grinning.

"Hi Olivia, I would like a iced black and I would like to try a chocolate chip cookie please?" He said with a small smile on his face.

"Sure that will be $3.50 please" I said while grabbing his cookie, "Here you go just give me a minute on the coffee."

"No problem" He said grabbing the cookie, as I turned around to make his coffee, we hear the doorbell go off. We both looked over to see the one and only Mandy waltzing in like she owned the place, which she kinda did.

"Oh hi baby, you usually never visit me here" She said while going in for a hug.

"Don't 'hi baby' me Mandy, we broke up yesterday remember?" Logan said while looking slightly pissed off

"Here you go Logan" i said giving him his coffee as I realized that a fight may happen between the two, we don't need that in the cafe. "And sorry to interrupt, but you guys are in the of the customers."

"You can't talk to me like that my daddy owns this place I can do whatever I like, and Logan that was just a misunderstanding, you know I love you right?" Mandy said, but she listened to me anyway and moved out of the way after Logan. She continued talking to him, but I ignored them since it has nothing to with me.

I continued to work; making cookies, getting supplies from the back, and taking orders. Mandy was obviously talking still to Logan, and for some reason it bugged me. Maybe it's because she cheated on him or maybe something else, I don't know.

When my break came around Mandy finally stopped talking to Logan. I went to the back after making sure she started working; grabbed my phone and headphones. Putting on my headphones and clicked on Thnks fr th mmrs by Fall Out Boy. I continued to mess around on my phone for the remainder of my break.

When my break was over I went back to work. It was around closing time and Mandy had left so I was stuck cleaning the tables and the machines. I noticed there was someone was here with me reading a book, from here I couldn't make out the the title of the book.
